Hello Pixelers,

I'm trying to brush up on pixel art as a hobby again and started with the basic MS paint palette. My main effort here is towards developing as strong workflow and improving my rendering. CC welcome.




I also updated one of my older pieces.

Pixel Art / Platformer practice: Stage 1

Hey guys. I've been lurking around a few old topics and found myself staring at some of the amazing platformer mock ups. I also realized that I have very little experience making them; therefore I hope to spend some time going through that process for educational purposes. I'll be doing this on my free-time in various stages, so please feel free to comment, critique, and edit at your leisure.

Stage 1: Character sprite.

My original idea was wielding a pistol. I'm hoping to bring that idea back in a future version; hence this dagger was used as a placeholder until I manage to figure how to make one that doesn't look like crap. I'm also still trying to work on the palette, rendering of the character, and the concept. Boredom is no friend to the uncertain =[.

Hey guys. Haven't been on in a while but I had some free time after a particularly stressful exam. I wanted to see if i improved at all in the time I've spent away.
Made this; and it is very WIP. Hopefully some C&C comes my way.



Probably going to have to mess around with some of the proportions to match my face a bit better. Hopefully I can get some comments on the actual rendering and color, as opposed to the likeness. (Especially considering the lack of a ref pic). The ear is a bit wonky atm, and I'm not overly pleased with the nose and eyes.

EDIT:
Bored so I started work on this too. Sort of a tree-girl assassin thing. C&C please.

Pixel Art / Pixelated Woman[Nudity]

Yo, this is a WIP of a gift for one of my friends (a big fan of Gaga). Don't worry, I'm not trying to hide my own feelings about her (I admittedly think Gaga is cool), so lets focus on the pixels!



Atm its sort of bad... I'ts my first pixel in over 7 months~ish, so I'm eager to learn/relearn.

EDIT: More Posted below ~ Concentrate on the Pixelated Woman atm, because I'm not working on the gift pixel anymore.

Pixel Art / Sprites Walk cycle WIP

Ok, so pixeling is something I love to do but when it comes down to making the pixel art come to life I have some problems approaching the animations. Can anyone help me improve the animations of these sprites that I'll be using for a project?

I'm going to post the current south walk cycle (currently I've begun a walk cycle with legs only and will add arms later), along with the base character that it is referenced from. The reference was self-pixeled.

Currently this is a 4 frame walk cycle but I would appreciate any input as far as increasing the frame count to 6~ 8. There are no real limitations on the amount of frames; however I don't have all of the technical know-how to make the most of so many (that's part of what I'd like to glean from this topic).
For animations I usually use photoshop; however I've started using Gif movie gear and its pretty great too.

Pixel Art / [WIP] Walk Cycle

Hey Guys I've just been working on a few rpg sprites, and although I'm content with my base at the moment, I'd like to work on animation (as its a weakness I'd like to improve upon). I started a walk cycle in silouhette so c+c is welcomed along with edits if possible.

P.s. The head of the sprite is only a color reduced version, so shading advice isn't my goal at the moment, I'd really like help with the body's animation (the head is just attached on a separate layer). The sprite is walking slowly so that you might get a better look at each frame;  I'll mess around with frame timing etc to perfect it later on.

Pixel Art / Rpg Mock-up Sprites

I was looking through a few of my pixels and found a sprite for a mockup I intended to make, yet never found the time for. I thought the sprite could use a few touch ups and I eventually went from re-doing the sprite to making a whole new set of character sprites in a stye inspired by the original.

I'd appreciate your c&c on these sprites guys.

Characters from top to bottom:
Art the gunner (pistol), Robin the scout (katana) , Derek the warrior( Short sword), Elaina the shaman (bladed rod), Marina the original (short sword)



These would be for a sidescrolling rpg (not a real one, simply a mock up)

Pixel Art / WIP Dump [nudity] LVL.2~ NEW Edits

Its been awhile since my last post on pixelation so I was hoping i could get some help on a few WIPs i've been messing with for a while. I'm just trying out a few things all at once- which is often my preferred method of getting in over my head;however, I'm confident that posting here will help me to finish most, if not all of these pieces.

The first few all share the same/ similar palette, so in your critiques and suggestions upon those works I'd appreciate advice on color choice and comments regarding my current usage of color in said works.
As far as the rest of the pieces go, any critique on fixing certain problem areas (like the rendering of hands in these pieces) would be appreciated. With the most incomplete WIP, I'd just like a few suggestions in regard to the direction of the piece, and color my color choice.

ok, I just realized that i'm slowly becoming a lurker- not good for me!
So I did a quick pixel to keep myself up to date. nothing much, just enough to keep you guys thinking of me :D


Realize: I made the first and then blue came along.
