Pixel Art / Some action guy

Yesterday I made a serious attempt at pixeling with the nds homebrew app UA Paint. This is the result.  :)



The colors got a bit fudged when loading the file in windows, but I'm too lazy to fix it. XD

UA Paint was nice, would like some improvements though, like RGB sliders for one ^^
But I'd recommend it.

Pixel Art / Playing around with fighter sprites

I'm playing around with fighter sprites and thought I'd post them. Gonna play around with animation too, cause I need to get better at it  ;D

Here's my first one. With this I used Third Strike Ryus pallette, I've strayed off from it a teeny-tiny bit.

Here I've tried a few different things to make the sprite look better:

I think the second one turned out best, but a second opinion is always good.

Recently I've noticed a strange problem on the forums when viewing posts. Sometimes when someone has posted an image all I see is:

... instead of the actual image. I don't know why this is so, I never had this problem before.
I think it started after I installed Forefox 3, puked on it and went back to 2.0.0.17.

Anyone else have this problem?  :'(

Pixel Art / Platformer-ish sprites

Have been away from pixeling and pixelation a little too long.  :'(
Watched Afro Samurai and got inspired, so I wipped up my tablet and did some small sketches. Actually only four since I went into detail on one of them.
Here they are:





Gonna try to finish up these sprites and make some animations for them.  :D

Pixel Art / Guess what? Game graphics! Wooooh!

Well, I'm moving my previous game project to 3D so I thought I'd make a small(-ish) 2D game over the summer, to keep the brain going  :)

So I'm reviving one of my older projects. I call it Hero's Sword.

It's a simple (don't know if it stays simple for long though) 2D platformer with a silly story. Resolution 320x240.

Thought I'd begin this thread with the main character:



The right one is a slightly older version, I show it as well because in the newer version I exchanged some of the outline on the head/face with a brighter shade.
I wanted to do the characters chibi anime-style (haven't done much anime in a while so thought it'd be fun) and I'm pleased with the head, even the hair. But I'm still not sure about the body. I'd really appreciate your thoughts on that.
I've been looking at Kennethfejer's latest little project to get some inspiration, since his style is the closest thing to what I want to accomplish (without emulating his style too much of course).

I have my quick sketch of the character:


I also drew his sword there, and how he looks while holding it since in the game he hasn't held a sword ever until the game begins. He's gonna look very silly using the sword, and also using it in silly ways.

Here's two ideas for the sword:



I went for the left one though.

Yesterday I was traveling by train and while I waited in Stockholm for my train I took up my laptop and listened to some music and stuff. I got an urge to do some pixeling, so I decided to experiment a little. I started GraphicsGale and started doodling, with the touchpad. Heres the result.  :)

Pixel Art / Sand Tile

I'm working on the graphics for the intro level for my game, and I'm not sure about what I've come up with so far. Here it is:



Pic 1. Just the tiles put together

Pic 2. The red line shows where the player can stand, go against.

Pic 3. Tiles broken up.

There's supposed to be tufts of grass here and there, and an occasional bush. Though I haven't come that far yet.

I know it doesn't look right at some level, but I can't pinpoint it (I'm too tired, been up very verry long today, allnighters takes their toll =P )

Any suggestions, edits and crits are extremely welcome.

EDIT// Moved the pics to photobucket. I couldn't get into pb yesterday for some reason so I put the files on my schoolserver instead.

Pixel Art / Sprite - commander

Yet another sprite for the game. This is the commander of a big aircraft the player "infiltrates" at a point in the game.



EDIT// Fixed some stuff. Changed the color of the eyes from black to my dark blue shade, added some details on the medal-thingies and collar, and I fixed his feet/shoes. Felt they were a little too big.

I've made some grass tiles. Also made a phone booth and put it in there.


Just made a sprite of a friend. It came out looking very similar.

Pixel Art / Boss - "Hippodrakus"

This boss was supposed to be a fusion between a hippo and a dragon. The boss would have a lack of self-confidence since he was bullied for not being a real dragon, though he claims to be a fullblood dragon. His catchphrase "I am TOO a dragon!"

The head looks more crocodile-ish than I intended. But that's allright  :P
