General Discussion / Re: Official Off-Topic Thread

Seen that image around, wonder where they got the data. It does seem a bit silly that Ms South Africa is white.

Actually there are tons of white people here in SA. I am white and live near Cape Town. It's much more mixed than is seen, I'm sure, from the outside. The British and dutch have established colonies here way back around since the 1700s around the coast (on trading routes to the east) and integrated with the locals since (the "boerewar" was actually when the British came to claim the diamonds in SA and the by-then-pure-local white farmers ("boere") fought them back. My family, for example, originates in France. My first language is one originating from Netherlands. (The call South Africa the Europe of Africa)

There are many many many beautiful white girls here :), in that picture she looks very local actually.

I like the greek one the most.

Pixel Art / Re: Shiver animation - where to start?

If you want it only to be subtle, you can shake his highlights around (shake stop shake stop), and leave the outlines alone. It usually looks very shiver-ish in games.

This is beautiful, the style is really interesting and attractive!

Very cool concept, and a very agreeable graphics! I wonder if you could make those lights have stronger lights on the ground, maybe bring a shadow-light gameplay dynamic, but in shadows zombies are still somewhate visible. Maybe some zombies are good at hiding while others continue normally. Maybe this is not such a good idea though.

Hey spc, that looks a lot better. However, you are stil banding along the edges somewhat, for example, in points 1 and 2. Try to brake that "staircase steps"-aa, it creates the unwanted look in the aa, the blurry-ness. I think there are some good examples of banding somewhere in another thread and how it looks (I cannot find it).

In point 1, don't aa 45 degree angles, it pretty much takes care of itself.

I saw your pic on pixeljoint, and wanted to mention the banding/blurry aa on your dunes and made a edit. EyeCraft already mentions it I see, but I'll post edit anyways.

Pixel Art Feature Chest / Re: Savage World (artistic nudity)

Do you think if the bird matched the detail level of the character sprite it would still look out of place?

Yes. I understand the idea is to separate it from the background, but the bird feels very big and clumsy, maybe too "cartoony" almost, when you see the amazing painted sky and marble girls. I would like to see with a more rendered realistic approach, longer stronger legs, smaller head. The wings too don't read well to me. I like this example googled. Edit: or this one is like yours, so better.

I love those tree-stumps in the swamp, absolutely amazing. I really like the girls as well, maybe there is place for them inside an inventory or some other screen (when you aren't running around). This art makes me feel embarressed about the game I am making. It's always inspirational seeing your work.

I was going to suggest something between helm's last edit and the perspective you had, but vierbit nailed what I had in mind better than I could show myself. I do prefer helm's rock colours and his sprite colours too for the main character.

Initially in your first version on pixeljoint, the only really thing that bothered me much more than the rest was the bird that looked out of place.

Amazing stuff, bb.

She probably lost her toughness here, but I tried to make her more womanly.

-> rounder wider chin + rounder eyes + lower/sharper cheekbones (goes lower from nose too) + rounder nose with smaller on sides + much more stretched lips + eyebrows
-> raised chin and jaw too
-> no ADAM's APPLE!

Anyways, I love how this piece of yours looks!  :y:

[edit] posted incomplete edit, now complete one
