Pixel Art / Re: [C+C][WIP] Skeleton Battle
« on: March 27, 2015, 02:09:51 pm »
i tried to draw a basic wire skeleton on the left character:

The biggest thing that seems out of place to me is the left arm. I think it would be much more natural to have a sort of arc from one hand to the other, going through the clavicle, kinda like this:

The neck is kind of long, too.

Also, from the layout and the direction she appears to be facing and moving, it seems like she's not so much leaping directly away from the attack as she is jumping sort of parallel to it. I'm guessing you want her to be more of the focus of the piece, so I would move the skeleton toward the foreground and have it face her, rather than have both of them face the viewer.

Overall, an exciting scene. Lots of movement.

Pixel Art / [C+c/WIP] A new challenger appears!
« on: March 26, 2015, 02:13:10 pm »
I think i bit of more than I could chew with the last character I was attempting, so I'm going with something simpler:

Meant to be viewed at 2x or bigger I suppose. The light is source supposed to be directly above (I feel compelled to mention that, since lighting is one of my weaker skills). I can't seem to get the lighting on the hair to a satisfactory point, and I'm not really sure if I'm content with the shading on the jeans or not.

Pixel Art / Re: Platformer Sprite

Okay, I made some adjustments. The desaturation seems like the biggest and I probably should've known that already ;] I changed the hammer a bunch, too. The biggest thing I'm having trouble with right now (or maybe just the most noticeable) is lighting strange shapes like body parts. It's not totally clear to me why the changed lighting on the legs works, but I pretty much followed your edits as an example. Here's the current iteration:

Pixel Art / Platformer Sprite (C+C welcome)
« on: June 06, 2014, 08:21:00 pm »
Hey, I'm working on a sprite for a platformer I'm making that involves large hammers. This image is my attempt at the first frame of an idle animation, but I wanted to get some feedback before going ahead with the other frames. I was thinking of using it at maybe 3x or 4x resolution in the game:

Pixel Art / Tiny Portal
« on: April 18, 2012, 12:53:20 pm »
I made a little portal-type thing for enemies to come out of. It's my first pixel animation, but it could probably use some improvement, so C+C are welcome.

thanks

That looks totally cool.  Makes me want more isometric transformation of old games.

General Discussion / Previews?
« on: August 14, 2010, 09:09:50 pm »
Does anyone know of a decent sprite editor that has a tiled preview, so that one might see how the tiles look next to each other?

Also, would anyone happen to know if there's a way to have a 100% or 200% size preview window in photoshop?

Wondering if anyone has any more suggestions for this one or if I'm ready to let it stand and move on to new stuff.

It's a rock.

Okay, I tried a different tack with the shading:

I also reshaped the skirt of the dress some and reduced the number of colors.
