Pixel Art / Re: Teleporter and other stuff

Sorry for the late reply but I'm new here...

I find it an interesting idea that you gave that teleporter a twisted look as if it has been looked a specific angel.

Most teleporters mis this kind of detail and most of the time it's just a bended thing at the top and bottom.

the polygon trick to give it a depth look looks good aswell.

2. Not quite getting why sprites are needed for whites.

because the white in the eyes is just one color too much.

you could replace the purple background with a white one and you're safe aswell

Edit: it could be like this... I left the white eyes as they come out the best like that, you still have a sub pallet left for extra color in the surrounding gfx

Edit2: just noticed I screwed up the last picture, it's already 4 colors but it doesn't use the green as in the pallet, but I guess you get the idea
and could setup sub pallet 4 for that one as a duplicate of sub pallet 1 and replace the green with black.

Great background!

Reminds me of Pitfall in some way.

BUT

When I zoomed into the picture I noticed that you didn't keep the limitations in mind that NES has.

Some parts use 5 or 6 colors in a 8x8 block/char/tile which is impossible.

Even 4 colors is hard to use as you always lose one for the general background in all 4 sub pallets.

I guess that the goodlooking  rocks at the buttom eat too much tiles aswell, keep in mind that there is a limit of 256 different tiles that can be displayed at once,
it doesn't have any "bitmap" modes like the C64 has so you're stuck with that limit.

I'm more a coder although I know most of the gfx mode by now and wrote some pixel tools for it
I'm simply lacking the skills to pixel something from scratch, reworking pictures/logo's is fine but I'll leave
the rest to some real skilled person.

So I'm looking for someone who can pixel some graphics when I need some
and as the NES is non-profit for years it's all about goodwill and honours I'm affraid.

But that doesn't spill the challenge to code/pixel for it.

I checked some threads and spotted some pretty gfx, it would be a shame if it only stayed with a preview picture.

General Discussion / NES artists?

Hello,

I pushed myself into NES coding lately (although my roots are C64) and wondered if there are any people here who have experience in pixeling for that machine and its rather strange limitations.

People with mini game ideas are also welcome.

Not sure if this forum has private messaging allowed but you can catch me on #nesdev aswell for a chat on NES related projects.
