About me
Hi all. Based in Australia, I've spent about 6 years in the games biz directly, about 15 before that as a games journalist, and taking 2019 to establish my own indie studio.

About the project
I have an unannounced project in the works and have started assembling a team to begin work in February.
The game is an isometric strategy title with RPG elements - the rest is all confidential and NDAs are in effect. 2D pixel art will be used throughout.

Talent and skills
- Environment artist
We are looking for environment artists who have experience creating isometric pixel art scenes. Ideally you can create high quality, varied tilesets for maximum reusability, and are familiar with building both interiors and exteriors.
Because we're looking at strong 2D graphical quality as a brand pillar, while tilesets are preferred they are not essential. If you can demonstrate a proper understanding of designing isometric environments that can be placed over a playable grid, we're also keen to hear from you.

- Character artist
We want someone who can create pixel sprite sheets and have experience creating to the requirements of isometric. As mentioned, the 2D art is fundamental to the identity of the game and so we're after distinct sprite work that tends towards the realistic. This means we won't be going for the low res look, not after chibi/big head styles, etc and while we love them, traditional JPRG-like sprites aren't what we're after for this product. With all that said, if this sounds right for you, please show us what you've got!

Payment
This is a fully paid gig with rates depending on portfolio quality and industry experience. References are a must. You will also need to estimate costs and timelines based on the job specs, so we can discuss either an hourly rate or a project fee. This is primarily a remote position but if you somehow happen to be in my area, there's place for you in the studio!

DM me here or on https://twitter.com/SoundInterest.

Thanks!

I ended up pricing the full version of this background at $500,

Can you check that link or post which background you mean, please? When I click that it just loads this whole thread.

Really like your work, sir!

Hey - some beautiful work here! Do you have much experience with a non-chibi/more realistic proportions style of sprites? I'm looking for more realistic proportions, or at least less exaggerated head-to-body, but still allowing for facial expressions?  (Feel free to DM me and we can discuss further)
