Hey, I just wanted to make a suggestion about portraying your character's blind eye.
You might try making his right eye blind, instead of his left.
I think it would be more readable while using the same symbol to communicate his blindness.
Good luck man, this is an interesting project.

Thanks so much for the suggestions Wes and Pistachio. ;D

After your comments I realized that my scene was a little too unclear about the tunnel's location.
The tunnel was supposed to be extending out of a building in the foreground, hopefully my update fixes this issue with perception.

I also updated the walk cycle with more bounce.

And I did a little refining of characters (the ones offset above), as well as cleaning up the green monster a little bit.
Additionally, added a vehicle design.

Thanks again for the help guys, and as always, suggestions and insights are more than welcome. ;D

Hey all, It's been a while since I've put mouse to pixel, but this is my forth coming effort.
It's a little concept art for a game, heavily inspired by Winged Doom's STEALER and RENEGADE stuff.
With out further ado, let me show you what I've got thus far.

Character walk cycles:
V1

V2

Concept art:

Characters and Weapons:

Any thoughts or suggestions about what I have so far are more than welcome!

Hey man,
I think the accepted standard here at pixelation is that your attempt something and then present the result here for critique.
Asking for help before attempting a technique or piece is pretty much frowned upon.
That having been said, you might find this tutorial helpful. http://www.rapapaing.com/blog/?p=12.
Good luck.

Hey man, interesting work so far, but a few things need polishing, so I did an edit to try and outline what need some help.

The first issue I saw was keeping the sprites readable against the background, I saw ptoing mention this a little in his post, but it's an important concept.
EyeCraft mentioned this to me in my low color project, it is important to utilize your colors help differentiate the active stuff from the background stuff.
So, in my edit, I tried to utilize 3 light colors for the sun, sea, and clouds, using darker colors for the bodies of the aircrafts, missiles and "no fly zone" buildings.

Secondly, I noticed was that your ships need a more definite form.
You have to make them look sleek and speedy, so I would recommend using minimal outlining and Aerodynamic shapes.
Take a look at some reference photos of real fighter jets.

I like the way this project is coming along, I hope to see more in the future! ;D

Hey man, welcome to Pixelation.

Well, you have an excellent jumping off point here, there are just a few points that need some attention. ;)

Firstly, your scene is lacking shading; it's making everything look flat and dull.

Secondly, the "coastal" tiles are in a different perspective than the rest of your scene, it gives the perception that the world is "bending" at the sea and at the pond.

Finally, The grass seems a little boring, try developing some tiles which have a little more movement rather than just a single color.

Good work so far man, with a little polish you'll have a nice scene here. ;D

It's a shame to see those wonderfully gray hues go, but your new edits do look wonderful. (Especially those cherry blossom forests. ;) )
The only issue I see is that the grass's hue seems a little too overpowering, perhaps a slight darkening could be helpful.
I am loving the way this project is coming along, and CANNOT WAIT to actually play it! ;D

You might want to check out this tutorial, it's pretty helpful about how to draw pixel art clouds.
http://www.rapapaing.com/blog/?p=12

One quick thing I did notice about the clouds you made here is that, though they have significant highlights, they lack shadows.
Utilizing a few shadows might help give the clouds more form. ;)

Excellent work EyeCraft, I have been avidly following this project and it only seems to get better. ;D

I really am impressed with your ability to utilize a minimal palette, but still produce such distinctive tiles and sprites.

The only problem I have noticed is that the large ship, the one you placed in the mock up, portrays a distinctively round shape.
To me it ends up looking like a bath tub, maybe shifting a pixel or two might help.  ;)

I sincerely hope this becomes a playable game, 'cause it looks like a ton of fun.
