Her Right side of the dress needs to follow the thigh of her right leg to make it an illusion.

Otherwise, it's good.

In my honest opinion, it's great. :D
She has that frown she's famous for, the hair is alittle odd, try and add in the "shade" like on the reference on the backside hair. But that's about it.

A reference picture for Taiga in abit chibi mode? =3
It might help with some people who are unfamiliar with the character of Taiga Aisaka.
Your own style isn't the same, but the characteristics are still the same. :)

But as previous said, it's a good start.

Ps: Love Tora Dora.^^

Edit: Lower one is better.

You know, what's the opposite of walking backwards?

Just swap the animation in reverse. ;)

And viola, you now have the walkings in all 4 ways.
Now it's time for the nitpicking I guess?

And yeah, this template is for the more brute and rash men.
Female walkstyle will be a pain for you. ;)

Why does women have to be so much more curvy and beautiful then men, meh.
And you're welcome, I love watching some of the pixels people do on this forum.^^

I'm unsure, is the issue that the legs move up too far, or that they're too close together, or something else?

I keep playing with it, but everything I've done so far only looks worse. I'm probably going in the wrong direction with it.

Thank you loads for the critique by the way. It is extremely helpful. :)

Also, is there something wrong with the East walk? To me it looks like it moves faster than the other animations, but I'm unsure how to remedy it.

It's just what me and Infinite said. Let me show you what we mean so you get a better idea and see what we mean.

If you watch it, this is how where his "feet" walk.
This is why it looks akward. From the southwalk he walks directly towards us, but his south walk looks like he is walking downward from a bird perspective.
You're mixing up the angle, so either follow the one you seem to want to do, if it's either Bird or Normal perspective.

And I wouldn't change the sidewalk, it looks great. :)

Aha, I see the issue now.

And last new upwalk is still akward, now it looks like he's doing some sort of Parade while standing still.

If you watch your Downward walk, you see that his feet are pretty much even to the ground, correct?
But his upwalk makes the feet move in an angle.
That's why it look like he's just walking with high knees in the upwalk.

I like the style you have here, especially the big moves when moving downwards. :)

But the Up walk looks more like he's walking backwards then walking upwards. Might be because of his arms should be opposite to eachother. Try swapping them around and see how that looks.

As you see with these only, it looks like walking backwards.

Maybe exchanging the arms won't work after watching it more thoroughly.
What if you swapped the "knee lines" on the other leg?

There's nothing wrong with the old man.
Somehow he reminds me of Stan Lee O.o
However, put them both together and then look, is he a giant by a chance or is the woman just small?

Reminds of Ezreal's kind of detail on the arm, heh.
The style sure is good enough, the animation needs abit of a fix though.
He looks more like jumping then in ready stance, try to slow down the animation abit.

The left arm also looks to be extending itself rather then moving, try to "make it more bending" then stretching.
And the right arm looks to be punching rather then bouncing. Since it's angled towards us, you should be able to make the lower part move up and down, while leaving the slower movement to the upper arm.

Pixel Art / Re: [WIP] Redwing Character Sprite (first attempt at spriting)

Those legs looks to be done from Bass MM7 Sprite.
The eyes and the most of the sprite looks to be drawn or edited from MM7 on a closer view.
Ah the good old days. ^^

Let's begin with a small bone edit to give you an idea.

This should give you an idea of what you could change, the base of the limbs needs a change.
The legs/Torso size is fine within the standards of "Stylized", but the arms needs to be redone a bit, an idea for you is to stand up and then let your arms hang down on your side, this should give you the anatomy hints on how long the arms really should be.

Another thing that kinda gives me a weird feeling is the size of the head versus the rest of the body, it looks too "thin" compared to the more beefy legs/Torso.

Begin with the arms abit and then show what you have. :)

If you're knew, starting on 16 bit sprite is quite a challenge, but don't get discouraged.
It's better to start on actual sprites instead of going for instant scratch.
Gives you some good hints on what to avoid as well. From my own experience when I started doing sprites back in the days of BnG Comic 10 years ago. :)
