That's a real pretty set of smileys you got there, Faktablad. But I have to agree with Faceless that they're very hard to read. Especially at 1x, which is how they would be viewed on a board. Here's a quick suggestion how the readability could be improved a bit. I basically just changed the face detail color to pure black and made the details a bit bigger (without increasing the size of the squares).

OK, final update for today. Worked on: skeleton, mist, dirt tiles and tree (slight mods). Check it out:

That's a beautiful looking tree. It looks so... lush. Kinda puts my puny tree to shame. I must say it's maybe a bit too much of an attention stealer though. But I'll definitely be taking some advice from yours when I redesign my tree. Especially the shape of the foliage. Thanks for the edit.

EDIT: Updated the tree:

Pixel Art / 16 colors mockup (Arne's palette)

Here's a mockup I made using Arne's 16 color palette. What I mainly want C&C on is the ground (dirt) and tree which are the parts I have been struggling the most with.

Really nice palette you got there. I had to do something with it so I whipped up this quick mockup. Crits are very welcome.

EDIT: I opened a new thread for this in case someone wants to c&c to stop this thread from potentially being cluttered with irrelevant posts.

fil_razorback's puzzle

I didn't use your online solver though. It would have been great, if you'd have some more space to work on (for example making the workspace twice as wide) and if the tiles snapped to a 8x8-grid when you move them around the canvas, meaning that the possible x- and y-coordinates of the individual tiles could only be multiples of 8.

Tomas got it right, pretty quick too .

I really enjoyed solving your puzzle. It was hard but not too hard and I liked the design and colors of the drawing. I think I'll stop posting my solutions now though, it feels like I'm spoiling the fun for everyone else. :)
