Pixel Art / Re: Walking Animation (female)

Thanks for your reply :)
I have updated it. The darker leg for now just makes it distinct from the other. The chest now moves more smoothly.

Does she kick out too far? Swing her arms too far? Just want it to look natural. It's getting close I think.

Nice work, definitely took some time and effort and it shows.

If I had to be picky, maybe I'd wonder what is the dark line between her eyes? Is it hair or is it depth from her nose? It's the one that's straight up and down near to her left eye.  I'm just not sure.

Beautiful picture.

I also like the distorted water with the sun reflections on it, really makes it feel alive for me. Really good work I like it.

Pixel Art / Walking Animation (female)
« on: February 23, 2011, 09:21:38 pm »
Trying to get this walk looking natural, relaxed, fluid. I know the arms at least need another frame, but I'm looking at the legs right now. I've done my best with the frames but does anything look off?

I plan on adding shading to the feet and arms as well but right now just looking at animation.

Also should the head have more movement?

Just want to mention this animation started with reference to a screenshot of a game. It is a personal challenge for me to take the single frame and animate it.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Pixel Art / character

Hey there. Programming comes a lot more natural to me than good pixel art. This is Arian, who's eager to take part in an adventure RPG but first needs some critiques (and possibly a name change.) Originally drawn in a pixel editor I wrote, then switched to Corel Photopaint.

(EDIT: removed)

I did use a reference I found online somewhere, but it's quite different. The issue I see so far is the arm swings back pretty quick on one frame. Also I'm thinking about removing the outline because the game graphics don't have outlines.

I don't think the animation is bad. Perhaps it like a quick defensive move, reacting to some attack. You could do another kind of swing for a more aggressive attack.

Yea I agree.. you can't tell me that if you can draw that awesome robot and brave little washer machine you can't handle a couple floor blocks. lol  ::)

some highlights on the top-left, a little sheen / reflection.

nice work!

Looks good! Only if I am expected to search for something to pick about... perhaps the purple color should gradient to darker between the legs and/or be slightly more blue. He's mostly perfect and cool looking. :)

Beautiful work... MS Paint....?? Wow. I'd go insane using that. Yes, layers are like unbelievably helpful. These buildings are really cool though. :)

Thanks for your feedback KittenMaster. I've changed the roof tiles as seen in the second image. The trees still need work. I think I'd prefer a non-outline style, I was just testing to see what outline looks like. Thanks again
