Pixel Art / Elementals - some tips?

Hi.

I did these.

In these two, does the fire on the right look right? im not sure how it would look coming out from him especially wonder about the background fire at feet level, between the legs. 
One the left, does the lights and shadows make sense in terms of shape. How would the internal lights affect him more than they do now?
On the right, does it look ice, or rock? Also does it look consistent in terms of shape and lights.

That does indeed look better.
I would say my example looks like the bottom one a bit more, I wanted him to potentially be doing a spell or something.
Since they are summoners.
Anyway, I changed it a bit, here they are together.



Does anyone know how to karma? I really would want to give it.

I did some edits

hope it looks better



Since the original design has some glowing tattoos and a necklace with metal on, I added them on the right, not sure it looks ok.

a little bit off topic but I want this guy to stand next to two other daedra designs I did. ... should I lighten him up a bit.. or do others look brighter?  If you want to match a color schema to others, what do you usually do, check sat and brightness to be on similar levels?



Edit - I tried changing the darkest shadow into the same as the other sprite, that looks better I think, at least together with others

Pixel Art / New Demon character - anatomy trouble! Please critique!

Hi again.

I tried to study anatomy for this one, but not sure it looks right. I have looked at both pixelart examples, pictures and 3d models, but I am not sure it looks right.

Would appreciate any advice on the muscles on this one - tried to keep the palette limited, but there might be room for more colors.

Hello again.

changed the foot a bit but I sort of like how it looks now with the lit up breastplates and colors.

I will try out your advice with colors on my next one Bengo.

Hello.

I am ok with it not looking like in the game, since they have had quite a lot of iterations over the years.
Sorry for not mentioning it from the start though.

But as a rooster, skin flap thing, is it unreadable?

about the colors. I like your retake on it, gonna study in detail what happened when I get home.
The second to darkest color seems more red now, warmer.
Is it always a goal to try to limit colors as much as possible? Or is it more to try to make two similar colors into one?

fskn - I was looking at that too. I´ve saved every step. It has been quite the lesson :)

Bengo - It is not blood, but rather a skinflap with high saturation.. sort of like a rooster.
I am making a set of creatures from the game Oblivion - and this is is my take on the Daedroth.

Yea, the foot is what confused me from the start. I don't quite get how the light would fall at that angle. I will look up all the references all you guys told me about in detail. Thank you for your kind words :)

I will try another edit once I´m back from work. I am happy this forum is still alive and you guys are here! Although it has been more active in the past? This feels like the warmest place to post anything for sure.
And are any of you doing this on a professional level? Your skills are really good I think!
