Obviously the sketch is very rough but ultimately a more suiting style for the spirit IMO. Trying to clean it up to understand it still. But still can't quite wrap my head around it  :-[
I'm not quite sure how to avoid leaving to much room on the top cover (sheild) without making it look messy. Amorphous did a great edit but haven't figured out how to clean it up yet. I got to get drawing more I suppose  :y:;D

Thanks for your imput Vinik!

You made your point pretty clear with the visual explanation.
I guess why I always stuck with the odd style was my inability to properly make use of the real estate as you put it. I tend to rush for the details too quickly.

This is way ahead of what I could ever see. I'll definitely spend some time on your sketch.  Thank you so much!  :y:;D

The Palette for anyone too lazy picking it out: (EDIT: wrong palette fixed)

Pixel Art / Back at it again after 6 years

Haven't drawn anything yet alone any pixelart since about 2012. Picked up on a piece today I never finished then. This used to be my default palette.
Got real nostalgic listening to some Crystal Castle on my hard drive and got pixeling. Some real nostalgia visiting these forums.

Main concern is the viewing angle and shape. Looking at the ground it tells we're looking from an above perspective. but the top of the tree isn't. I'd cover a bit more of the branches connecting with the trees crown to enhance that. I like the green palette  :y:

I think the table could help correct the perspective a bit

I was experimenting with making walk cykles once. I copied a finished one to learn.

I've got a 100 x 100 cm canvas and thought I'd make another pixel art oil painting, but how about I paint something from you guys instead? Would anyone feel interested having their artwork painted?
I was thinking something like a 100 x 100 or 50 x 50 pixel art peice and making a thread where people could submit their art.
Would be pretty cool to see what comes out of it.  ::)

Pixel Art Feature Chest / Re: Time for some help: My Minecraft texture pack
« on: November 03, 2010, 08:12:37 pm »
I wanted to do a personal update myself actually since the current texture pack surely  could be improved, however, I was unsure of what style would really fit the blocky graphics. I felt that fancy graphics like yours would turn Minecraft to something I at least wouldn't like to see it, boxy with that sort of deatailed textures.  I belive it's the basic ingredients that really makes this game, graphics included. Either use more diagonal and square shapes to fit the actual box shape.
I play the game myself quite often and I really like what I see, in a fan art perspective. I hope you finish it too!

Make it or break it Junkboy!
