I have to congratulate you. This piece has really come a long way from your first post. Well done!

It looks okay so far, but I definitely recommend using some references.

and the like.

Right now, the proportions seem off, the beak isn't hooked enough, the feet seem a bit small, and the colors are a bit off.

However, the technique being used on the head so far is pretty decent,  so it seems to me a few references will help this piece take off.

I'd add some translucence to it. The general form looks well enough for three frames, however.

Here's a looped animation for you:

I'm not sure what program you use, but in GIMP, it's as easy as saying Loop Forever when saving the GIF. As for hosting, photobucket works well enough for me.

The run cycle looks pretty good to me, good shoulder and hip rotation. However, when the image loops, it looks like his lower body gets a lot bigger suddenly. Here's an animation of just the last frame moving into the first frame again, you should be able to see it:

Something you may want to think about as you choose your colors are the backgrounds of the game. Since an underwater background might contain quite a few blues and greens, you'll want the colors of the character able to be easily separated from the ambient tones. You may consider making a mockup of typical background, just to get a feel for how well the colors you choose fit in to everything around them.

I've been watching this thread for a while now, and I have to say that the progress you've made so far is great:

The more you practice and start thinking in terms of anatomy, the less effort something like this will become. Keep up the great work!

The point of people doing edits isn't for you to edit what they do to further the piece. It's for you to examine what they did differently, and figure out what you need to do. They're trying to show you techniques in the artwork that would help you become a better pixel artist.

Thank you once again for a very informative critique.

Lack of hue was something you hit me on when I made my jello sprite, but just now am I understand quite what you mean. Right now, I'm thinking in very linear terms. If this green is okay, then for shading I should use a darker version of the same green. I need to break myself of that particular thought process if I want to capture the most flexibility out of a lower color count, and do more than just lower the value. I'm going to definitely work on choosing a better palette. Thanks muchly.

As for the design, the creature wasn't intended to be a rabbit. In fact, the original design was a very blobular, alien thing filled with teeth. During my translation of it from idle doodle to sprite, it picked up a few rabbit-ish characteristics. However, you did give me a lot of good information regarding creature design that I, as of yet, had not considered. First and foremost, you are right in that I'm not stopping to consider the anatomy first. The work you did to create more natural form to the limbs and other structures make the creature much better looking.

You're also correct in your assessment of how I botched the lighting.

Unfriendly robot, you are not. This is exactly the type of critique I need in order to get better. Once again, you have definitely pointed me in the right direction. Thank you very much.

Pixel Art / Goblin rabbit thing animations

Here are some animations I've been using as filler sprites I've been using to build an engine.

The teeth threw me for a bit, but I think it's looking passable at the moment.
