General Discussion / A Dithering Thread
« on: December 18, 2010, 01:12:44 am »
hello, this is a thread on dithering. now dithering is seen in many stylish ways these days usually by the greatest of artists.

but i'm getting back into pixelart and i'm hoping to learn how to draw by hand soon also. but i'm practising dithering but i know i've seen tutorials on how to dither but with more of a stylish twist to it. i can't seem to find them now, and i wanted to know if you guys knew of any tutorials which could teach me to dither more stylish.

or perhaps you could do one yourself i don't know, but i'd love to hear more on this. either way below i've provided a link i found earlier.

my only issue with this is that some of the colors blend in with each other to much. like hair with skin and so on. but then you have things greatly seperated like shoes with clothes, visually confusing!

Lizzrd:
you misunderstood what i meant. i didn't mean the scientist itself was lifeless i mean simply his pose was.

NaCl:
the pixels were placed meaningfully. i couldn't seem to get the right look shading wise so i wean't for more of a creased suit look. guess judging by your comment i didn't do to good of a job.

don't get me wrong i like your design that you did to help but it steers away from the style i was going for and because of this the shading is slightly more useful in Zweckform in the way of helping. yeah i try and implement outlines in my game mockups all the time simply because it helps images stand out more. if colored and shaded correctly.

ohh thanks. that does help. i edit a few things. mostly adding shading to pants and adjusting shading on pockets a little. thanks for the help, it helped helps!

one uestion should i try to add more of a stance to the legs or not? because his pose seems lifeless.

i did read the rules beofre posting. and people have done this for others here before i don't understand why this is such a  problem now. even before the character was asked for people were refusing to even show me what they mean't with things whether it was on peice or not. just complete refusal.

i came here because i was told you guys were good at helping, that was clearly a lie.

i'm not the best artist around here, but i'm good enough to give some advice on this. i think on the pokemon above your work needs to be on the mouth. but on the others, i think with the heart the main issue is actually your line art. the shading isn't that bad but the shape isn't a heart.

if you don't know what a love heart looks like ask any girl you can find i'm sure they would know, or a google search...

i think as an artist your palette skills are really good but your main issue seems to be your skills in drawing what you want the shape is all over the place. and i think it helps destroy the look alot. from there i would recommend finding a tutorial on shading.  it isn't shading in general i'm refering to when i say that i mean so you can find a way of shading but getting rid of that big black outline from your peice.

i would fix up the heart for you just to show you what i mean but right now i'm trying to get something soughted out in my own topic.

there i reuploaded that image and updated the post it was on. it was working yesterday because i looked at it. must have been hacked today. look i know i'm not much of an artist when it comes to characters but i've tried and failed miserably as you can already see and that is why i'm here. if no one is willing to help then i wish for it to be turned into a community project or what ever that other guy said.

i just need someone that can help actually make it.
