2d/3d artist and animator.

Hi, I'm Mike! I'm a freelance artist based out of Toronto, Canada who has worked in the industry for a little over 6 years. I've worked on games such as Cave Story+ (art and animation), Cave Story 3D (3D modeller and animator), 1,001 Spikes (general artist), Binding of Issac: Rebirth (Lead artist and animator), Catgirl without Salad (Animator) and the yet to be released Katana Zero and Shakedown Hawaii (Character Design and Animator).  I'm available to work on larger contracted projects or smaller projects such as commissions as well. I've only shown examples of pixel art here but I am also available to do other 2d work such as illustrations or 3D work. I've included links at the bottom with examples. Currently I am only looking for paid work.

Some Examples of my work:

If you are interested in seeing my 3D work it can be found here:

This example doesn't flow super well as I did it kind of fast but when dealing with billowing fabric it's best to think of a series of balls running through it in the way you want it to move like so:

and with the balls removed:

This is just a 2D representation of the idea though you can also imagine a couple of balls running through Alucard's cape in 3 dimensions.

Pixel Art / Re: Zelda 1 enemies in GBC style
« on: November 26, 2011, 12:00:28 am »
I think removing outlines for areas that are contacting makes sense and looks good. Otherwise it looks like the object is floating. Compared to the other enemies I think the Rope looks too flat, I'm not sure how you could fix that though really.

I really love those Zelda 2 sketches though, always a treat to see your stuff!

Ah yes! Thanks Atnas. I find it really helps me come up with some interesting monster ideas when I start getting into a rut. I would love to participate in some kind of a challenge involving it.

I was wondering if anyone can help me find a program someone posted awhile ago on here. It generated images that looked like this:

I tried the search function but I wasn't able to find anything. I think Happymonster created it but I'm not sure.

General Discussion / Re: Need tablet pc: good, the bad and the ugly?

After reading everything Argyle had to say I broke down and bought a Motion Computing LE1600, it's about the same as Argyles only larger. So far it is working fairly well, the battery life is poor and it chugs sometimes but for being a portable device it proves to be quite nice. I'm usually around an outlet so the battery isn't too much of a problem and it only holds a 2 hour charge.

Along with the Tablet PC I bought a small keyboard remote which makes it relatively easy to perform shortcut commands quickly and not take up a large amount of space in my bag. I would definitely recommend one, I paid about 20 bucks for mine.

2D & 3D / Re: LowPoly motorbike club - "Edge Splitterz MC"

This is killer man that motorcycle is fantastic.

If I were to nitpick I'd say add a bit more tread to the wheel, you should be able to add it with a repeating texture with out taking up much more space on the texture map. Raise the two dirt shields slightly too maybe cuz the wheel seems to clip though it sometimes.

Do you have the texture maps as well to look at?

WOW, I didn't know there were so many people from Pixelation working on this. I've been eagerly awaiting this since it was announced. Congrats to everyone involved!
