General Discussion / Re: Anyone using Unity for pixel art games?
« on: May 30, 2016, 10:12:16 pm »
i'm a beginner with unity and i'm interested about info too. A friend of me told me he prefer use unity3d to make 2d platform games !
For pixel perfect, it seams the most important thing is the camera ratio

Pixel Art / Re: Anyone here animating in the Photoshop timeline?
« on: May 29, 2016, 10:02:30 am »
hello, i usually use photoshop to make sprite animation, but it's a bit tricky.
this global explanation is to make a sheet of sprites with photoshop with 1 line of any sprites you need for each animation (each line = 1 animation)

I can explain you the general idea and if you want to use it, i can make a proper tuto + download of the script file needed

- use "animation/windows" with image by image option : you can see your current animation with load option
- export the current animation with "files video renderer" : you'll obtain 1 picture by animation frame ; pict1.png, pict2.png etc
- use a script layertoanimation.jsx : select all your pictures and the script will load all the selection + make a proper line with all sprites
- save your sheet !

Maybe try not closed eyes at all : for idle, it's seems strange a bit and maybe you should slow animation a little bit.

this one seems blured, because of the shadow :

I really prefer the second, much more consistant :)

It's a common mistake with the kind of view : you put sometime shadow, sometimes not.
So it's seams too flat. Same for the wall and the water, stair.

I don't know why but it's really like rpgmaker tile (no offense), but you mix some tile with many textures, close to tile without any.

So this is an exemple , not very perfect but it work well imho: lot of strong shadow, good contrast too and textures for all materials

I know well , shadow is a pain in the ass but it really give some deep to your map

I suppose it's just the floor tile, because you need to add some trees and others stuff.
You know, we focus easily on little problem because lack of details.
I don't like vx tile but i need to tell this mockup isn't  bad : lot of details so we can forgot the lack of some shadows
