Pixel Art / C/C - Gurren Lagann Sprite ( Anim Help )
« on: May 13, 2018, 05:58:43 pm »
Hey guys, I'm rather new to the pixel art world and was wondering about your thoughts on a sprite/anim of the mech from my favourite anime, Gurren Lagann. I'm working at 200x200 and I don't think I'm ready for anything bigger than that.
Any comments about its shading, pixelwork etc would be highly appreciated. Thank you!

P.S.
Does anyone know how to animate spinning drills?

EDIT
Weird, the images arent popping up eventhough i've already put |img|link|/IMG| , here are the links incase it isn't just me. GIF: https://imgur.com/734o77M , Still Sprite: https://imgur.com/1vM6BFC

Thanks for all the help guys! Such a huge help! I'll keep all of it in mind when doing fire related objects and pixel art in general for the future. Thank you! Also, that art revamp of the sprite looks awesome! :OO and also educational haha.

I tried to experiment with clothes in the wind and lightning, and also tried to make soft pixel art. Thoughts??

There's lots of jagged lines and unnecessary corners, especially on the outlines, fix that and you'll get an instant better sprite. Also the fire on the staying still frames are kinda weird and doesn't look like fire, I think you only need fire on his hair + hands for the still frame. Try focusing on the sprite first and upload it here so we can help you further :D

can you tell me some ways to soften a pixel art? I don't really know what to do and ended up just thickening the outlines like so, it just feels more solid(?) or smooth idk.. here's after some minor tweaking
