Unpaid Work / Re: Need a pixel artist for a new Super Nintendo game!
« on: August 23, 2017, 01:31:42 am »
Hello. While I haven't done art for an RPG before, I also have a great passion for the SNES, and have also attempted to make homebrew for the system in the past. If you still need an artist, feel free to PM me, and I can show you some of my past work. Looking forward to hearing back from you!  ;)

Hey, thanks for the feedback you guys! Made some changes and have now uploaded the most recent version (EDIT: accidentally posted the wrong link at first, and so the image didn't show up. Whoops, should have previewed it first...:blind:):

(Apologies for this taking so long, summer is sadly a time of year I typically don't have much free time, oddly enough) This version makes the gaps between the bumps on the trunks wider and smoothed them out like eishiya recommended, though I'm not quite sure if it should be smoothed out further (though the changes already made do make it look nicer IMHO). Also added a few leaves here and there to the closest layer of the background and made the further layers gradually fade into the background. I'm also still debating whether I should make some of the stalks bend slightly or not.

But yeah, thanks a lot for the feedback, I found it helpful, and once again, criticism is greatly appreciated!

Pixel Art / Bamboo Forest

I've been working on some graphics for a high-bit project of mine. The furthest layer of the background (the night sky) does have some dirty tools used (a gradient and some air brushing), but all the rest of the image was made entirely in pixel art, so I figured it'd be alright to post the mockup here.

Feedback greatly appreciated, as this is one of my first attempts at doing a background!

Pixel Art / Re: Sprite, Portrait and Stat Screen.

Minus the "PlayerL100" across the top, I'd actually disagree, the tight spacing and consistent character size really gives off a nostalgic NES vibe, which I presume was the intention here. As for the art itself, I feel like the Overworld sprite may be a bit too small (could be just me though), but still really well made, I'd try adding the darker blue to the helmet as well to provide some shading like on the rest of the armor, but I didn't bother to check each 8x8 tile to see if that'd break NES limitations or not.

The portrait, on the other hand, I really love! I don't see much wrong with it, and it looks really nice especially for the era being emulated here. If I had to say something to be improved, I'd say it'd be the shading on the body. Humorously the opposite of the overworld sprite, the helmet in the profile has some really nice shading, but the rest is just a flat blue. However, given the NES style, I'd say it's an optional thing, and looks just fine as is, already appearing to be something you'd actually see in a mid to late era NES game!

Pixel Art / Re: [C+C] Practicing Some Pixel Art

Looks pretty nice so far, though I'd try experimenting with the bottom-most segment of the magnifying glass. Try making it look more rounded instead of flat and see how it looks. The main thing that bothers me about the piece is that the shine across the lens isn't very visible. I'd imagine it'd look much better if you made those shines more visible. Play around with it a bit!
