Thank you! I want to create a walk cycle for him. I would like some advice on how to make his walk cycle look good. This is my first time making an animation for an original sprite, I've only done it once and it was just an idle/floating animation; I would appreciate if I can find some references on how to make the cycle.

There are some jagged lines. Keep in mind that simpler shapes usually work best.
The hands are a bit small. I don't know what the thing in his neck is, but it has a weird outline.
Does it have something to do with the back thing behind the arm? I thought it was a shadow. It follows the arm's shape perfectly and makes it hard to read.
Also, you don't need to separate everything with lines. The colors already do that job.

I think you should have picked the colors from scratch again instead of using the same ones as before.
The blue colors don't have enough contrast. It looks just like you just added some black to the blue for the shadows.

What helped me the most was downloading some sprites I liked, making a palette out of each one's colors and comparing each color (how much the brightness and hue changed) to the one next to it.
I made a new version. Sorry if I didn't entirely changed the colors. Anyway, the thing around his neck was a scarf, so I changed the shape a bit. I changed the arm position as well.

Here's the revised version. If I can have some suggestions for the color on the coat, that be great. I need some better colors than the ones I'm using.

Hey, I uploaded this image before but it got removed. Anyway, I made some improvements, tell me if I need to improve anything. Also, if anyone can give me better color shading for the coat, that be great. The one's I'm using is too yellow-y to me, I want it to be light, but also a bit of green.

There are a lot of unnecesary colors, a lot of banding and some pillow shading. Check this tutorial
The face is ok.

Here's a slightly edited version. I want to keep the black outline to make it cel-shaded. Tell me if there's anything I should fix if any.

Close! Here, I did an illustrative redraw of your character. It's not the best work, but the biggest thing I want to highlight here is Silhouette.

Silhouette is the idea that any character you design should be instantly recognizable, even if the character is completely in shadow. Good silhouette is the biggest thing I use when designing any character, and you can see it in just about any good design. It also applies for posing and composition, it's a pretty handy multi-tool!

So, in order to improve the silhouette of your character, I tried to keep the  arm outstretched with the lantern rather than drawn in on the body as well as put emphasis on the basic shapes of the character much as possible!
You can see how that looks here:

Here, a remake of what I did. It's a lot better than what I did before. I took only like a few elements from the one you made but it's still different nonetheless. Like the colors are from the original

I like the cutesy design, very friendly! It doesn't quite scream guide though. Perhaps something like a lantern, to better represent that aspect?

They also seem to be leaning backwards a bit, I'd reccomend going back over this with an eye for curves and contours later.
When I have time I'll try to do a quick redraw to showcase what i mean!

Here, I revised it a bit. Added a lantern too. I contemplated whether or not to give him a scythe instead but I decided that the lantern is more appropriate. Anyway, tell me if there are any areas needed to be improved.
(Hope you can see the image, I can't seem to see it for some reason, just open the image in a new tab and it should be fine; if you can't see, that is)
