Hey Folks... it's been a while. 7 years to be precise...

Am I still banned?

Apologies, life kind of got in the way, I got a kid and got divorced and bought a house and got a job and lost a job and then set up a new company and stuff...

I just thought I say sorry to anyone who was still waiting for a Christmas pixel gift from me.

I'm now out of the games industry officially. I've just suggested a buddy of mine joins up here as he's in need of some pixels for a pet project he's been working on for a while... So if some one shows up calling himself BinaryTweed or some derivation thereof... please treat him nice...

Thanks...

May I suggest that rather than focus on the rendering of it you get the full sketch complete first?

It looks quite nice despite that though... but really, you may find that you spend a great deal of time working it up only to find you can't make the rest 'fit'...

Sketch the rest first, get the pose right, get the proportions right, get that bang on, and then work n the rendereing.

You need to begin with the underlying form and anatomy. It's not fooling anyone cutting and shifting pixels around on a timeline to give the impression of motion. That said, It can work, but you have to know what you're doing.

Having an idea of the final rendered (static) image is all well and good but you need to go back to basics.

Have a look through some my old posts... I've got a few tutes on walk cycles and so on that may help you.

Enjoy.

WAhooo! Burn zombie Burn went Live on PSN yesterday... Check it out... my first 'real' game released since I went travelling 3 years ago...

Unavailable in Germany atm I'm afraid (sorry Sven) due to silly rules about 18 cert games and digital distributed titles... (which we've only just found out)

Congrats :) I don't have a PS3 anyway, so no big deal. For germany just make the blood green or something.

Something else:

I will be gone for one month as of tomorrow (coming back on the 2nd of May). Going on a backpacking trip to the Philippines with a friend \o/

we did the green blood trick... ;)  it seems that german law or lore has it that digital distributed games (i.e. downloaded) cannot be 18+ cert - (that's what I wanted translated the other day btw) - so we have no choice...

I'm assuming you guys have seen this?

In fact the artwork looks suspiciously familiar... I wouldn't be surprised if someone round here did it... :D

You need to be more specific with your brief...

how many creatures at 32x32's? how many at 128x128's?

are they already designed?

dependant on size, complexity and scale dictates the cost...

without knowing this it's quite difficult to guage as a total cost.

I'm sure some out there could quote you per character.

32x32 x 4 (directions) x (4 frames) = $x

I'm surprised noones commented on the way he used to make his graphics by ripping sprites first...

But since has 'mastered' the pixel... yup... like i've mastered flying a space shuttle by merely playing space shuttle simulator on my 286 back in 1989 in CGA...

What a nob.

Again, like bob... 100% for his enthusiasm and belief in himself... 0% in his acheivements... he's be no means a proffesional game developer despite his claims... more a high profile enthusiast who has some ok products who's getting by making some cash (kudos to him - I have a lot of respect in that sense...) however, deluding himself into thinking those of us in the sharp end of the industry are actually worried about his skills... I mean... come on - we DL'd the Jesus game... it's written in Blitz basic FFS! He'd be torn apart if he ever fancied giving up the day job and tried to join a more reputable outfit... with that skillset and that output as a profile/portfolio the code team would bin it - the art team would pi55 themselves - the design team would play frisbee with the rom... maybe that's harsh... but from my POV it's lilke some guy on youtube making a crappy movie with a Digi-cam - editing it in Vegas - and claiming to be the next hitchcock, scorsese, kubrick etc...

I'm utterly dumbfounded.
