I like his design, but he feels a bit hunched forward. Possibly even a bit evil because of that and all the purple(? Colorblindness, may be blue).

I had that same feeling about him hunched forward, I guess I have to take courage and destroy his shoulder area and try that again (the more I work on something the more I become hesitant/afraid to do big modifications x_x), not to mention I realized I want to put it in a isometric view game and I draw a front view...  :'(

Pixel Art / Re: Feedback and Opinions on first piece?

The first impression I had was that the green fog fading was too abrupt in contrast with how visible is the last tree before the fog so that definetly flattens it, also I know on the center is supposed to be a tree behind in the fog but to me it looks like the shadow from the last tree before the fog projected on a green wall (adds strenght to the flattening effect), that combo-ed with the spotlight kind of light coming from the top, it kind of make it seems like a setup from theatre stage in my opinion. I like the colors in that gem and the characters :)

Sorry for the generic title, is just that I don't want to create a topic for everything I do (unless is something it actually deserves an entire separate topic), so I'll just use this as my main " throw all in here" topic  :D

This is my first pixel art character another "first" will be making an animation of him walking, but before attempting that I wanted to hear any kind of feedback you guys may have about it, since it could be for me a chance to learn and improve  :)

I'd invest on aseprite, it's probably the current best option for working on spritesheets since it's kind of built around it. There's a specific tiled drawing mode that shows you how what your drawing will look like tiled, it's pretty handy.

Awesome, I'll give it a try  ;D

Thanks for the feedback guys

@FelipeFS: I see your point (though I really only have grass and nothing else so far)

@MicKo: thank you for editing it  :), I actually spent quite some time in photoshop trying to get rid of the grid before posting but couldn't completely achieve that, what I found out is that I'm struggling a lot against the tools. The thing is that I don't have direct feedback regarding the grid when I edit the tile, basically in order to check I have to copy-paste the tile many many times, scale-up, and copy paste the whole thing 4 other times (to get the picture I posted), so is more the time I spend copy pasting that the time spent fixing, and just to find out that the grid is still there...
So a very slow-unprodictive and indirect method, the smart thing would be to have 8 copy(or more) updated in real-time surrounding my tile, so every pixel I place gives me an immediate feedback regarding the state of the grid, but I didn't found this option in photoshop.
There are any tricks regarding better workflows to get rid of the grid?

Pixel Art / [Feedback] First Grass

Even though the title says first grass,  it is actually the second, since the first was just random vertical lines of random 20 or so greens and then after seeying that just making random lines for 20 minutes wouldn't magically turn into grass, I went and read a tutorial  ::)
The canvas was 32x32, I actally don't have a specific question, I am kind of looking for general critiques just to make sure I'm on the right track, so probably I would like to know which one of the two is better, what is not working in it and how to improve on it. :)

Grass1

Grass2

Grass tiled (scaled up to 64x64)

Edit:
Also some leaves attempt

Hi I'm Marcus, I jump from trying 3d to trying programming and now I was just looking for some new hobby and pixel art seemed interesting and I ended up in this forum, I suck at pixel art though xD
So I hope my noob presence won't annoy all the great artists around (opened some random topics, found only awesome stuff!)  :)
