Pixel Art / Re: [WIP] Lizard People
« on: February 25, 2012, 09:13:26 am »
I really like the current design, but if you go for lizard look, you will need some edits, I think.
1. Lizards have no ears. You would be better off to change them into some horns or somesuch. Lots of lizards have skin protrusions.
2. The legs. Lizards do not walk on their toes (except for some dinos I guess) It could stay, but IMHO walking on palms is more lizardly.
3. The scalyness. The current, smooth texture just doesnt communicate lizard to me.

I really like the current design, but they read to me as mice people.

The ears make them look mammaly, and not lizardly at all.

The end of the bazooka looks like it was cut off at a weird angle.
The newest shadow with the sandwawes is awesome.

Elks edit seems incredibly more organic. I wish you would consider it some more...

Hi!

Thanks for the reply!

Yes I am aware of the excess fat on little horsie. Originally I didnt intend it that way, but when i doodled it up, i found it funny, especially as it is intended to carry stick figures on its back, so i went with the fatty look. Your edit is awesome tough :)

I find the arm movement funny, it is as if the arm close to us would unnaturally stretch when swinging forward.
Also the behind arm seems to swing twice, which gives ti a twitchy appearance.

The hair does not follow the head movement well. Gromit`s edit shows nicely how it should look like.

Keep on hacking away on it!

YAY FOR PROGRESS!

I like how he leans on the leg he is tanding on, excellent touch!
One thing I liked in your original approach is that he moved his arms a lot more. I think you should try to incorporate that into the cycle, it could work out well. The current arm animation is kinda placeholder-like.
Keep up the good work!

Now capable of walking downwards, and added some friends.

The bobbing, Im trying to make it less pronounced, but then it becomes too flat. I modified so that it follows the shoulders, but then its too rigid. Maybe i should do subpixel? I dont like the outcome at all. Actually, I like it best with bobbing head, it makes it a bit funney.

HI!

I think you really should heed the edvice you already got, in particular StarRavens. Following his link i did his in some 10 minutes.

It really isnt anything good, but still a start in 10 minutes just by following that link and reading whats written there. I think in a few hours of extra work, this could work out pretty good.
