Changed everything. Seems much better now :)

I drew this tavern for the character select screen for my game some time ago:

I don't really like how it looks, especially the wood and background bricks. Any tips or critique appretiated :)

It's looking better. The campfire is still still using many colors that look very similar. Make every color count!

It looks like you just downsized bigger assets. You should use way less colors and avoid automatic anti-aliasing!

Thanks for the kind words. The thing is, that in the 1 year that i've been learning pixel art, I haven't seen a big improvement in my art. How long does it take to see improvement?
And, yeah, i have been posting everything on my twitter page (https://twitter.com/ollieberzs), right from the start  ;D

The thing why it doesn't look right is because it looks flat. It looks flat because of the shading. Also, you don't need to use so many colors for the shadows and highlights, especially if the colors are so similar. I did a quick edit so you can see, what i am talking about :)

I edited, according to your great critique. Changed the shadows, made the head shorter and shoulders wider, corrected the face colors and other things :)

Now, the thing is, this is supposed to be my twitter avatar. How would i go about making it more readable when it's small?
