Job offers / [Closed] Looking For Pixel Artist For Tilesets
« on: August 25, 2019, 10:05:26 pm »
Greetings,

We at Grand Scheme Games are looking for a Pixel artist whom specializes in tile-set environments (or is at least very comfortable)

The assets we need are to be an extension of a pre-existing style that we already have dedicated for our games and so we will be needing the artist to leverage textures and resources from content that already exists on-top of some room for custom work.

We have a comprehensive list of assets we need which average to about an estimated 90 hours of total work.

We'd like to not exceed $20 per hour if possible though we could be flexible given one's speed

This work would be subjected to reduction given the proposed hourly rate and overall changes to scope (in which scope is likely to decrease rather than increase.)

For those who are interested, feel free to PM me here or send an email to:

twill14[@gmail][dot]com

(Note I may have a higher chance to getting back to you if you email me than pms here as we only venture here every few months or so as needs require)

I'll try to update the posting as soon as we've settled on a person and would like to apologize in advance if we are not able to speak with everyone.

For more info about the kinds of games we make feel free to join our site at www[dot]grandschemegames[dot]com

We haven't' updated for a spell, but this is due to some internal restructuring of the team and will be making an official announcement for our title when things are ready.

Cheers

-----
Update:

Thank you all who have reached out. There were quite a few of you and so I'll try to get back to you if I can after taking a look/gathering other opportunities for work.

At this time we've found someone, but I wanted to thank everyone for their interests and we'll likely be back for more needs.

Unpaid Work / Grand Scheme Games Seeking Pixel Artists
« on: November 14, 2018, 06:44:54 pm »
Hello,

I'm twill14 here representing Grand Scheme Games

We're a small but passionate team composed of a:

- Designer
- Musician
- Programmer
- Sound FX Designer
- Concept Artist
- Accountant

Though we're not perfect, we really pride ourselves on our organizational skills and love towards the way games can positively impact people's lives.

Currently we are creating a wonderful RPG called Immortal Doctrine and are looking for some pixel artists to join our cause.

At present we are looking for an environmental pixel artist who can help bring the land of Frayla to life and a character artist who can fill that world with amazing people, mystical creatures, and possibly even cool mystical powers!

The game's concept and execution is truly unique, but it does take some visual and experiential inspiration from games like Secret of Mana, Star Ocean, Chrono Trigger and 2D Zelda games.

On the Character art perspective game's art style is quite set and so we'd need to have the style be consistent.

On the other hand, Environment art, though we have it, is certainly flexible for alteration as long as it fits the character art style.

To learn more about us please visit our website at: www.grandschemegames.com

We have a discord server that we use to facilitate communication and would love to send you an invite to chat to see if we're a good fit.

For those interested in our short/mid/long term plans please feel free to reach out, but to give some idea, we're in the process of revamping the original demo made for the game and afterwards will either look towards seeing funding from a non-shady publisher, kickstarter, or if all else fails. by our own means.

If this sounds cool to you please feel free to reach me at: twill14@gmail[dot]com.

Cheers,

Twill14

Devlogs & Projects / Re: Battle System for RPG Game
« on: May 03, 2018, 05:10:28 pm »
Hey, have you had a chance to prototype this system at all and see how it feels in a gameplay environment?

A potential issue you could run into is due to the (subjective) complexity of your battle system, it is difficult to calculate how well they will actually work without actually creating a prototype and seeing for yourself.

Also, is your game meant to be turn-based? Imagine if the player had to fight 10 enemies in a row, would the system start to feel exhaustive?

Again, these are questions that may be too hard to answer without prototyping the systems first.

Job offers / [FILLED] Grand Scheme Games: Need Concept/Portrait Artist
« on: February 27, 2018, 02:20:21 pm »
Hello all, Grand Scheme Games with another art need :D

We need someone who can help update our old character concept art, to a more modern (already established) style.

This new style has already been defined and has a very specified style.

For references to the exact style we need, check out this link on our website (the mugshot at the bottom):http://www.grandschemegames.com/february-update/

In terms of the specific work we need, we have three characters which need to be redone, our main character and her two companions.

Each need two small face portraits and then one full body portrait. All of it we'd like to be in 3/4's style (between profile and a front view).

Payment can be done per asset. Our budget allows for about $110 per full portrait, $55 per mugshot and $25 for the facial portrait. Or we can do an hourly rate. We have a cap, but the rates are negotiable based on an agreement.

We'll also need more portrait work done for the game if the demo is received well in the future.

For more specific info, please email me at: twill14@gmail.com

And for more information about our team and the game, please feel free to visit our website at: www.grandschemegames.com

Thank you for your time!

Cheers,

Thomas Williams

Hello all, Grand Scheme Games here yet again!

Our game is getting really close to being done, at this point we’re in full asset replacement mode which includes sound effects and UI + Cutscenes.

This post is regarding our needs for Cutscenes and then eventually UI stuff including Icons and windows. However, that will be a separate conversation.

“Cutscenes” are the main method of storytelling we’re using for the game outside of in game conversations.

There are a total of 15 cutscenes. The longest one is 12 pages while the shortest ones (which are 5 or less) are the majority. This totals up to about 55 pages total.

We also need 4 backdrops for conversations that happen in the game in a mugshot to mugshot style similar to Fire Emblem.

And the last thing we need are a few of animations that should be relatively simple. One is of a spinning book of power, another is a giant demon eye which should take up a rectangular screen and the last is a flame ball traveling through multiple weather environments. (these will make more sense later)

Every single cutscene has already been storyboarded using PowerPoint and we have a very specific format and sizing requirement which includes an image by the boundaries of 1150 x 450 pixels with the appearance of old text like papyrus.

Here is a really good example of what we’re looking for:

https://youtu.be/Wm6AZ4orP9E

There is a  $2500 total dollar budget limit for all cutscene needs.

This means that we want to try to get all of the cutscenes we can and at a quality which justifies the price we can afford.

Timewise, we’d like to get the cutscenes in before the end of next month. To accomplish this, we’ll need someone who can create at least 2 cutscenes pages a day.

Just as our needs with our remaining game art, t we hope to just get what we need to make the game look nice enough to get people interested and secure additional future funding.

We also hope to eventually develop a long-term working relationship in the future as if the game is well received we will have much more work ahead!

Please Please Please when you contact me to provide me with relevant works. This means samples of your UI work as well as things very very similar to what we’re asking for.

We have documentation details regarding the total implementation, so if you need more information please reach me at:

twill14@gmail.com

Our format to cutscenes is pretty set and standard, but the implementation is up for debate based on what looks nice and is timely.

For more information about our team and the game, please feel free to visit our website at: www.grandschemegames.com

We look forward to working with someone to help us bring this idea to life!

Thank you for your time!

Hello all, Grand Scheme Games here again!

We figured that it would be best to have a separate board for environment art needs as well to help make things a bit organized for us and potentially interested people.

Currently we are also looking for a pixel artist who can create some environments for the Demo of our RPG Immortal Doctrine.

The style that we're looking for is 16bit style, Top Down and reminiscent of Secret of Mana (in which the game is influenced)

The demo will feature 8 main locations broken down into about 12 unique locations. Each of which each will vary by complexity and size.

We will have references available in detail if requested (sent by email).

We are trying to carefully budget costs for the game so  that we can afford the assets needed for the demo and then seek additional funding if the game becomes popular through an aggressive marketing campaign.

Based on this, we have about a $4000 total dollar budget limit for the environment in the project and would would hope to have everything complete in about 4 - 6 months time if possible, but are okay with extending it out if need be.

Just as our needs with character art, we can try to negotiate costs if need be, including alternative payment structures and the amount, but we hope to just get what we need to make the game look nice enough to get people interested and secure additional future funding.

We hope to eventually develop a long term working relationship in the future.

We have documentation details regarding the total implementation, but to give you an idea we would need the following:

Town - Faraway

     Sub Location: Player Home
Sub-sub locations: Home Entrance, First Floor, Second Floor

     Sub Location: Main Town

     Sub Location: Cathedral of Herezal
Sub-sub locations: Entrance, Main Hall, Herezal's Domain

     Sub Location: HOF Guild
Sub-sub locations: Entrance, Training Dungeon Path, Training Dungeon End

Sub Location: Festival Of Heroes Festival Location

Town - HighPeak
         Sub location: Main

         Sub location: Castle HighPeak
Sub-sub location: Main Hall, Audience Chamber

Town - Lumina
              Sub location: Lumina Main

              Sub location: Lumina Estate
Sub-sub locations: Lumina estate gated entrance, lobby, Main hall, kitchen, stage room, interview room

Dungeon- Pantheon of Time
Sub locations: Pantheon of Time Entrance, Floors 1 - 5, Boss Room, Treasure room

Dungeon - Lover's Path
Sub locations: Dungeon Entrance, floors 1 - 4, Boss room, treasure room

Special Area -  Faraway Field
         Sub location: Main Field

Special Area -  Highpeak Hill
         Sub location: Main Field

Special Area -  Lumina Forest
         Sub location: Main Field

This list is a pretty accurate representation of our needs but is still, of course, subject to some changes.

Based on some requests we also wanted to mention some information about our strategy:

We are interested in having tilesets as one option, but we are also interested in a hand drawn style (like the one used in           Hyper Light Drifter) where it looks like pixel art, but it's not.

We'd also prefer if the artist could aid us in map creation. But we understand if that isn't possible given our budget constraints.

In general, we'd like to discuss multiple different options we would have in regards to how we could approach art for the game and make a decision after discussing the pros and cons of each approach.

For more information about our team and the game, please feel free to visit our website at: www.grandschemegames.com

We look forward to working with someone to help us bring this idea to life!

Thank you for your time!

Cheers,

Thomas Williams

Hello we are Grand Scheme Games!

Currently we're looking for a pixel artist who can create some sprites for the Demo of our RPG Immortal Doctrine.

The style that we're looking for is 16bit style, Top Down and reminiscent of Secret of Mana (in which the game is influenced)

Size can be anywhere between 16 x 48 but will vary based on the type of character/monster/boss.

We'll have references available in detail if requested.

(Think about Secret of Mana sprite sheet characters for best idea)

We are trying to carefully budget costs for the game so  that we can afford the assets needed for the demo and then seek additional funding if the game becomes popular through an aggressive marketing campaign.

Based on this, we have about a $3000 dollar budget limit for the Characters in the project and would would hope to have everything complete in about 4 - 6 months time if possible, but are okay with extending it out if need be.

We can try to negotiate costs if need be, including alternative payment structures and the amount, but we hope to just get what we need to make the game look nice enough to get people interested and secure additional future funding.

We hope to eventually develop a long term working relationship in the future.

We have documentation details regarding the total implementation, but to give you an idea we would need the following:

- Three player characters: (Full game hopes to include 7 total characters)

Each with 17 (including 6 abilities) total Animations about with 4 - 6 frames
Abilities can vary with frame count (not more than 6)

These already have concept designs, so we'd just need a pixel art equivalent

- 30 Unique NPC's  (these will be for the entire game) 4 - 6 frames

   Only 1 Idle front Animation

Including 4 deviations (very small to make them look different to a minimalist degree)
4 re-colors (just simple palette swaps so that we can re-use the assets)

- 15 Unique Monsters

     12 - 15 animation (depending on abilities)
Most monsters won't have abilities, but some might have 1 or 2

- Two Bosses ( Time Guardian, Sin of Lust)
    Animations 12 - 15
    2- 3 Abilities
    Special Death Animation

- Two Hunts (Big Monsters)
   Animations 12 - 15
   Two Abilities
   Special Death Animation

This isn't the complete list and some of these details are subject to change, but very close to what we're looking for.

For more information about our team and the game, please feel free to visit our website

Again, this is just an brief intro and if you're interested we can provide more details about the project and needs.

Thank you for your time!
This isn't the complete list, but very close to it.
