Pixel Art / Mario Pixel Art [WIP] [C&C]

Working on a piece for a contest. This is still heavily a work in progress. I'm mainly looking for feedback on Bowser, and the general layout. Thanks!

Tried making my first animation. I like to consider this a self portrait.

Thanks for the feedback. I got rid of most of the dithering causing the noise, and added some depth. Not sure if I got what you meant by patches of dithering making a fur texture, but I tried.

This is my reference:

This is my first attempt at making a forum avatar. Not 100% satisfied with it yet. Thoughts?

Pixel Art / Re: [WIP][C+C] Caveman riding a Pterodactyl

I think the body looks great. I agree about the brightness though. A promo picture should really pop and grab peoples attention, and low contrast with dark colors just isn't going to do that. Personally I think the colors in the actual pterodactyl are fine, so maybe just try working on the background?

The perspective on the arms needs a bit of work. The rest of the piece suggests he's facing left at a slight angle. In contrast the arms look almost the same which would suggest he's facing directly forward.

So it was the light source all along... Ugh, seems so obvious in retrospect. I just need to stop trying to make pixel art when I'm this tired, sorry for wasting your time on this.
