I think it'd help you a lot to keep things simple and reduce the amount of colors you use per sprite, especially when they're this small. Your troop sprites have good poses that should read well, but the shading makes it feel cluttered and confusing. I'd say, stick to one or two shades per color (one or two shades of green for the helmet, for example). Also, things like the serrated edge on the knife, individual fingers, and individual teeth often read as noise, so I'd try to stick to pixel clusters rather than single or dithered pixels.

That first revision is definitely an improvement, but I think you could still emphasize the visual hierarchy a little more. I know your character doesn't have outlines, but you could experiment with some outlining on the foreground layers to bring those out more. Also, The colors of all the elements are still very similar, and I know green is a particularly hard color to work with, but maybe try using relative color to suggest green rather then choosing a distinctly green hue for everything. As things recede into the background, the saturation and contrast should decrease, as well as the level of detail and shading that is necessary. Try integrating a teal tint, similar to the sky, into the rest of the background elements to group them together visually.

Guess who's back again?

Here is EXTREME Zen, a game about… dodging… leaves?
Huh… what…?

This was made for the PewDiePie vs Indies jam over at Gamejolt.
Hope you enjoy it~

The graphics don't load in Firefox 33.1 on Windows 7, but I played it in Opera and it's really sweet. Great pixel art, as usual.

Yeah, the more I see the run cycle the more I find that 6 frames was a bit cheap. It's one of the animations the player will see the most, let's not make economies on it ! New version with 8 frames, feels way more inertial. also, jumps a bit higher durring the cycle.

New 8 frames :

Old 6 frames :

Definitely an improvement, I love it.

Pixel Art / Re: [C&C] Trees (Need some guidelines)

What you have isn't too bad- I'd say one thing that's throwing it off is the composition and balance of the trees. They're all fairly symmetrical, and the trunks might be a little too tall and thin. Try a shorter, thicker trunk and more irregular foliage silhouettes, and you should probably refrain from adding too many individual hanging leaves, as it doesn't read well with the overall shape of the tree.

I don't have a problem with the warm colored highlights, as street lamps often cast an orange hue on things at night. I think making the light from the lamp more orange would help in portraying this.

As others have said, the visual hierarchy does seem a little unbalanced. You actually don't have that much detail in the background, so I think shifting the background elements to a much more limited palette would really improve the readability. Something like this:

Well, it would help if you linked to it...

Nice animations on the dwarf character; they have a good sense of weight and gravity. One thing that bugs me is that his legs seem a bit stiff on the run cycle- I think it might help if his knees bent a little more. Otherwise, good work. :)

This is Let's Get Candy!, a little Halloween game about managing a team of kids to get candies. There's no real goal except enjoying yourself, unlock new characters and get CANDY.
It was made for the #TrickOrTreatJam on GameJolt, and the cancelled #SpookyJam on itch.io.

And now it's 1:12am so I'm gonna crash in bed okay?

Your stuff is always so charming!

We just released Brad's Rough Draft (link is probably temporary), for Lenovo's "Computer Slap" jam, which is based on the Youtube series about fantasy football they sponsor called Tough Season. Everything was made in a week.

The premise is that Brad's nemesis, Harris, is attempting to sabotage Brad's draft day activities and has hacked the system. I'm not sure what you'll make of it if you haven't seen the series, but I hope it's still amusing.  Works best in Chrome!
