Pixel Art / Re: Programmer Art....lol
« on: December 27, 2007, 03:01:38 pm »
I'm going to give a fellow coder some support as this sounds much like me at these forums.  I'm still mainly a coder with a pant load of programmer art, so my pixel skillz are not at the par of talented practiced artists either.  I use that clause as a crutch to say that I haven't honed my pixel skill as well as my code skill... I gotta stop doing that.

The only thing I can think of is to look at is the outline of the spaceship.  That being that there is a thick black outline surrounding it.  That's probobly okay, but there are L shaped pixels in there.  Meaning there is an outline pixel touching more then one side when it's not a straight line.  I know my explaination blows, but I'm not good with the words sometimes. This phenomenon does not exist with the shields or ISO as the outline pixels don't touch more then one other outline pixel except in the case of straight vertical or horizontal lines.  I suspect the phrase is to clean up the lines.

The other quip is that the spaceship has a black outline.  If it is a spaceship, black will usually be the default color of space, so a black outline is not going to help much.  If it's flying about the purple background as it's layed out here, then black works for me.

General Discussion / Re: user names...

I chose this name so that it would assist that nobody would take me seriously enough to take any snippy or sarcastic comment to heart.  It was designed to be silly.  No real mystery beyond that.  I've been using it for 8 years and going now... and it's stuck enough to follow me back into the real word.  After several years people are just warming up to calling me Bacon as naturally as my real name.  I'm warmed up enough to answer to it.  Then again, many of them are folks that I've met from the online world, so it's how they know me.

I've got no current pixels to show... yet. So sad.  :'(

Pixel Art / Re: Isome of my arts....check em out....my first post!
« on: January 30, 2007, 03:43:40 pm »
Now this was an enjoyable thread to read... this looks strikingly close to the stuff that I did on the Atari400 back in the day... if I still had my casestte drive, I'd load some of it up to reminiss... I'm like the above folks stating that I like the concepts, they are animated, I like animations... but pixels... not -so- much...  I do like the little guy with the guitar in the background...

I felt compelled to post due to my overall enjoyment that I received... now I want to dive into a pool of milk.

General Discussion / Re: How did you find out about Pixelation?
« on: November 07, 2006, 09:38:32 pm »
I got they Idea that I could make a River City Ransom type remake game.  So I went off looking for sprites that I could use as bases.  To google it was.

At the time of old pixelation such FADS that were going around such as as the Colin Sick Fan Club(lots of RCR hits with this one) Brass Knuckles and Belt Buckles and the I *-ate SALS signatures drew me in.

I found that I went to the same school at the same time as Mister Sick and I may have indeed met him, as soon as I was in brief correspondence with him, he lost his internets somewhere in Asia.

This story is only interesting to me... :D

/I'd rather not tell the alternative truth that I was in search of some very very low res pr0nography...

General Discussion / Re: SNEAK ATTACK INTERVIEW - PANDA

Heh... Sneak attack indeed.   Has it been 3 years?  Cripes... I suppose so.  I miss doing pixel arts myself, no time.  No time indeed. *cough*Family obligations*cough*  Gotta hunt that Colin Sick turkey down again and get his sprites into my java code that I've been tinkering with for... apparently a little under three years.  River City Rampage is taking a lot longer then I thought it would... heh

Sweet to see that the baton pass worked out.  :P

Neet... very neet indeed.

I have nothing more to say... nor did I say much to begin with.

It's good to be welcomed...

Yes it is I... and I do remember you too... like a can of FreshPaint.  Getting Dinged with extra Family took me down a notch in posting and pixelling and programming, but things have calmed down enough to get things started up again.

I don't have any new stuffs yet as I am ever so slowly building up my archaic pile of tools again.

As for juggling cats... I still have that.

Greetings all,

Long time fan small time participant.  The name is Shane and I hail from London Ontario Canada.  Way back when I tried to code up a derivitive of River City Ransom some way back which led me to a chap named Colin Sick (Brass Knuckles and Belt Buckles) which led me to the pixelation of old.  As it turns out, we went to school together but never met.  From what I see, many of the older names from that timeperiod are still around and have gathered here.

Been in an out of pixel arts, mostly out due to the having too many kids, but now the kids are old enough to be interested, so I'm back in a part time capacity of wanting to do something constructive again.

I mostly do goofball stuff and will mostly just bask in the efforts that I've continually seen by many of the other amazing artists that have much more talent than I.  I'm a coder that would like to polish up his "programmer art".
