General Discussion / Re: Huion FT-190
« on: January 12, 2015, 10:50:22 pm »
I don't know about the monitor based ones, but I got the Huion 1060+ last month and it works really well.

My brother had bought his a few months before that, but he got the huion H610 Pro.

Both work really well, and I'd gladly recommend the brand :y:.
Also, if you use GIMP, you have to go in preferences and turn on pressure sensitivity in the input options.  :)

That swivel arm in the video is awesome!  :o

Edit: It would probably be good to mention that theses are the first tablets we have had, so I don't know how it compares to pricier tablets, but the reviews for them seem to compare them to some of the better ones.  :)

General Discussion / Re: Tutorials/Tips : Isometric Sprites?

Ellian, were you thinking of St0ven's isometric tileset tutorials? ;D

If so, I uploaded them all to my google drive. Unfortunately, all of them are .mht files instead .html. They still work in chrome luckily, just a little blurry on the images. They would probably open in internet explorer still, since that's what I used to save them with.

Tetiro, hopefully this will help. I could never find anything for isometric characters, but St0ven's tileset tutorial has a lot of information about the different approaches grid wise, for both illustration, and game development.  :)

Here's the link:

I remember voting on yours too! :y:
I got second place on that challenge, but I think it was a scuba/barrel elephant that won first place, though I'm not entirely sure.

I went and entered a shirt design over at threadless!  ;D

I really need a new computer, since the one I'm borrowing keeps freezing and crashing due to the faulty power cord. Anway, this would totally help with my gamedev, both development time, and reliability. (I really hate the dell+vista combo  :blind: )

Feel free to vote here!

Thanks you guys! :3

I never enable the grid when I work with pixels. In my opinion, it's visually distracting when set to 1x1. Most I'll ever use it for would be for tile-work, and that's with it set to 16x16 or 32x32.

That's awesome! I'm surprised there hasn't been a 3D game with a render like that! I wonder if Blender could handle something like this, or a html5 engine like Babylon.js...

Here's one of the best walking tutorials I have found, it's made by Ptoing.  :y:

No problem. :)

The animations looks really smooth! I really like the blue haired one, it has a really clean animation that gives the illusion of more frames, especially the feet.  :y:

I like the the top one, but I noticed the hood might be a little jumpy above the face, so I made a small, quick edit:

I tried smoothing the downward motion, and I was able to make it so the rim hood didn't become thicker on the upward motion.

Keep up the good work!

Looks pretty awesome indigo! It doesn't matter the process, as long as you get to the end result IMO. I myself still pixel pretty slow, but I think it's either my process (aka, no process) or I over edit any little change  ::)

A little off topic, but if anybody knows any tutorials for creating pixel art (by that I mean different creation methods: grayscale, larger brush to rough it out, etc...) Feel free to send me a PM,  I pretty much know the rest by heart, but I'm curious on the steps you guys take to make pixel art.  ;D
