Pixel Art / Re: 8bit Pixel Art

no, my point actually. compare the angle on the cylinder shadow on the render and the pixel, reasonable match, the mario model should not shade the back pipe, at least completely.
As for Ptoings crit, he's correct, in a general sense. You'd have to take in to account bounce-light and other messy things though. But shadows ona whole do not multiply. They do scatter though.

nice effort!
The contrast is way understated, I think somewhere between your original and my edit might be decent enough (I went overboard on the edit)

Just wanted to give my props to a damn fine work by all involved.
Seeing Vedsten's work gives me warm fuzzy feelings.
Top effing svenska kronor.

Great work dudes! Just a shame there's no animations shown.

Brings back memories for sure. I used to play that as a wee lad.

The crits would really be that you should have strayed further away from the bases from the original game, as they have quite a bit left to be considered good.
They look nicer for sure though.

Pixel Art / WIP - Brains!
« on: October 12, 2006, 01:21:29 pm »

Major WIP, face and brain are more complete than the rest, but it's all very rough.
We'll see if I'll crop it or make a background, remains to be seen.
Using the C64 palette, but not adhering to any mode unfortunately, perhaps next time.

Thanks to Ptoing for the palette breakdown, immensly helpful.

Thanks for MSN crits, Ptoing and Helm.

This is so great it actually made me log in. That has to count for something, aye?
Great work. Just go with the first version, the orange helps balance the piece.

Thanks.

No prob to take the focus off the pixels.. not that many to crit or so.
I did a basic render with shaders applied, but no textures.
he caustics are painted, and he bubbles are 3d.

The motion effect is several frames of the ball rendered, but not enough to make a smooth motion, overlaid with screen-mode and a fall-off in the opacity. I was trying to mimic the arkanoid title-screen effect...
