Pixel Art / Re: "tibia" spr
« on: November 09, 2007, 06:37:11 pm »
Hehe, I was a long time Tibia fan myself. I played it since about 2001. Quit last summer though finally. I don't like where the game has been going. I originally got into the graphics aspect of the game at around 2003. That's what got me hooked on pixel work in the first place.

I spent a lot of time on WoT admiring the pixel artists there, and all of their work, as well as making several spr files from it. I never really went anywhere with my own art however. I guess these days I just lack the time required to do any real learning.

I think the sword looks rather cool, same with the helmet and armor. Mind sharing what each is for? Or are they brand new items?

That is great! I love the way the walls and roofs look, and the trees are very detailed. I love it, looks very real for a pixel art. I agree about the speed of the car when turning, but also, see the truck? It looks like it had to be droped in that position with a crane, or else drove over the curb to park in that small space, that is abrely longer then the truck is in length. Perhaps it is possible to pull out of there without hitting the curb, but what happens when sombody is parked next to you? And my final critique, is the size of the cars. The blue car is covering both lanes at once, rather then just the right one. And the truck, takes up msot of that parking lot. When you compare the car size in proportion to the buildings and trees its a little out of wack. But I only noticed that after really picking through the picture, and it still looks great either way, and you are probably aware of all those things anyways.

Pixel Art / Re: Lineart Exchange. Because I only like doing half the work.

Those linearts are great Hydra, even if you didnt do them originally, it's still nice to have them avialible to color. I just wish I was better at coloring :P I'm totally absorbed in all forms of wushu, and anchient chinese martial arts.
Can I ask where you got the pictures you traced those linearts from? Once I get better chops I will definately do one of those

That picture is amazing.... I can't even believe you can create such a thing. I think it would look bad with eyes though, unless they were closed. Has you're wife seen it yet?

Yes, but don't repost this. Try you hand at pixel art and get better, not make other people do it.
I'm not making other people do it. I'm just puting it out there for anybody who wants to do it, I would asume there is some people on this forum that would enjoy this little project. I also mentioned that I did try it myself a long time ago but gave up becasue I am not skilled enough to make it good enough to a point where its better then just useing this current one.

Also, Godslayer is right. That image is not pixel art. It's a photoshoped image, which I think would be 100% better pixelated. Just like most images. If nobody feels like doing it thats fine. It's more for the fun of seeing it pixelated.

I am not exactly a brilliant pixel artist, especially compared to the general population of this forum. Anywyas, For fun, if anybody is bored. Ive been wanting to pixelate my avatar for a long time. I tried it a few times in the past, it was shit. I am not very experianced with dithering, or texturing things with pixels. I think it might be fun for some of you. Plus I would really like it. Don't bother with the text, I never wanted that in there in the begining. No need for an animation on the eye either. Id love to see what could come from it, and I tend to think things look better pixeled. Its more pure.

Only if you want to :P

Thanks man! Those are exactly what I was looking for!

I really appreciate you taking the time to do that, I was starting to think nobody was willing to help :P And yes, the first ones were done in photoshop I think, and not pixeled like people do here (which is the reason I came here for help :P) I used to be really into pixeling myself, and a friend of mine was teaching me all sorts of stuff, but eventually with school and so forth, I kind of dropped it. I still come around here lots and look at other peoples work and almost always get inspired to start working on pixel art again, but it always seems so overwellming, because the artists here are far more advanced then I was when I was "in my prime"

I am actually very interested in pixeling and how its all done, and I always like to zoom in and study how people use their colors and techniques, I just never know what to start with on my own. Once I get my computer built and I have more time to waste on it I will probably get back into things... I think I have potential to be good, Ive taken art courses for years, and I have the stuff in my head, I just need to learn to get it out through my hands better :P

Anyways, those are going to look perfect in the game. Many people will appreciate you doing it, because I will probably make the graphics file available for public download, and your name will be on the credit list for chess pieces.
I will take a screenshot of them during a game of chess once I get them in it.

Again, I really appreciate you spending time on these :)

Pixel Art / Help with these chess pieces for an online game please.

Ive been playing Tibia for many years now. It's a 2d mmorpg. Anyways~ Some friends and and me were rather sick of some of the current default graphic sin the game, for instance, the chess pieces (which are life size ones you move around on a giant chess bord on the ground)

Rather then looking like real pieces they were checord pieces with pictures of queen, and knight, etc. on them. I found a way to extract the file "tibia.spr" so I could edit the in game graphics to my liking. Anyways, the problem was that I needed a new set of chess pieces. So a friend of mine put these together for me:

(the game itself is on a ratehr weird angle.

Anyhow, I wanted to make them a bit glossier you know? But my friend doesn't want to do any more work on them. I personally am not experianced enough as a pixel artist to get what I want out of them, so I thought I would ask if any of you were up for the challange of making colors more glossy etc. And if you are REALLY up for it, you could try fixing up those ones circled in red which he wasnt very atisfied with.

If you are curious about the angle and etc looks like in game~ look here:
http://tibia.gamigo.de/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=136058

If you have any way of making them ebtter do your best. Also, as you will see in that first picture there is not a white version of the horse piece, but that can be fixed easy with a recolor.

Also, incase you need to know, the size limit for sprites is 32x32

Thanks for any help!
