General Discussion / Re: Contra 4 DS - Developped by WayForward

garsh, as with all of these games, it's a learning curve, and there's nothing unfair in Contra 3 to me. I keep hearing people think Contra 3 is so hard, but since it was one of the few games I had as a kid I can still beat it and to me it's the EASIEST such game.  :)

I'm more worried Contra 4 will be too easy to accomodate more people. I have no idea about the difficulty of it.

Well, I did a load of animation and some effects for it. Like, a whole playable character, and then some for another playable character. Several enemy sets. There was a lot of demand on smooth animation indeed...

And a lot of demand for footrubs from Adam, until I was told he wasn't even officially involved.

Helm, looks good, but you should've left a white outline on him to highlight him.

OR... you zoom from the "View" toolbar option... though I only sprite at 6x and 8x.

Someone mentioned 10x which does not exist in Paint as far as I know.

I pixel all my game graphics in paint, then animate the more complex animations in Graphics Gale.

I keep all the sprites in the same BMP and have my palette as a part of it that I move and copy around within the file. I love Paint because it doesn't hide it's features behind several buttons and I really don't need any layers for spriting my own stuff. All you need is colors and a pen tool.

To me it looks like he smelled something bad. You should make the neck darker.

Professionally:   I hope to have released a freeware game that I feel completely content with (if this counts as pro) and people enjoy. Maybe even be on a path to make games "professionally", mostly something for sale on a platform other than PC.

Artistically:   I hope to have almost perfected my drawing skills. I feel I am on the path to get good with coloring and anatomy, finally. I don't really care how I progress with pixelling or animating, since that's not what I want to do with my life. I'd rather be great at designing and drawing for both art and game ideas.

I just hope it can happen.  :(
I am on a good track with a new freeware game anyway!

I like it, it's very characteristic. All you really need is to show the back arm, or it looks like he tries to jump every step. :)
