I just wanted to make a shout out to GOODNIGHTdestroyer for that Human Abstract piece... I love those guys. They almost rock as hard as that artwork does.

Thanks for the replies, guys, but I think I am going to scrap this design and go with a newer, more dynamic one. It just doesn't have the character I need, you know?

Just noticed that the sprite disappeared... strange... does that happen with imageshack frequently?

Pixel Art / Platformer Character

Ok, I realize I have a lot of projects going on at the moment, but I have serious pixel ADD, so bare with me. I have decided to work on a platformer for fun and practice. So yeah, here is the basic main character so far. He is just some bionic night, and as you go on in the game, you upgrade armor and weapons, so yeah. Oh, and he will be holding a weapon, that is why his hands are like that. What do we think? ???-

Thanks for all the replies! I was thinking that this could actually be a good multi-person colab, like have 5 sections on the arm, and have on person do each section at a time... well, if someone wants to start something like that, they have my consent, as long as I can be in on it :P So yeah, Fry, I will be messing with the shape as I go along, thanks for pointing that out. philipptr, We've all been there, don't sweat it. Hedgehog, I was thinking about doing a portion like that, but you only have so much arm, you know? And I have so many ideas, I don't even know if I can fit it all  :D I hope so, however. I will probably post the next update today.

Pixel Art / [WIP] Tattoo design...

So I am going to be getting my sleeve done in the next few months, because I mean, what else is a rock star to do? So yeah, I decided to make the concept on the computer before I draw it all out, just to make something solid, and because I love pixel art. I am going to be posting the progress in stages, as there are many themes to the sleeve, but this is the first post. For the start, there is like, machine parts at the top. I borrowed the palette from Fool on his most recent rockin mech piece, because I thought it looked good with the skin tone. So yeah, I also did a lot of dithering work on it, which is something I don't frequently do, so any c+c is appreciated.  :blind:

You are animating this thing?!? That is going to be intense! Can't wait to see it! Is it for a game or something?

Welcome to the boards! Loving the Marvin! I would suggest learning about aa (anti aliasing), to help with line quality and shading. What kind of game is it going to be? Platformer, RPG, etc? I ask because the sprites you have made so far are from a strange perspective, or at least to me. If it is supposed to be top down or isometric (3/4), you will need to make a few changes.

Welcome to the boards! Now, your character design is ok, but there are a couple of issues with the sprite itself. First of all, too many black lines inside the piece itself, making it seem cluttered and hard to define. Also, I didn't realize that was hair until I read the post, so do something about that. The way you shaded the cloths is also very stiff and unnatural looking. Finally, you could most definitely make the arm seem more organic and animate it that way as well, it would just take more effort. So you have to decide if the effort is worth it for your game. Your avatar is good, though there are some things that could be done to the grass, and the little guy in it could use some aaing. Other then that, good start! :y:

-Gil- Well, his super power is anti-gravity! No, I'm just kidding, and thanks for pointing that out
-madartiststan- I will try fiddling with his left arm and see if I can fix that
-Adam- I will mess with the bicep and see if I can get a good look with that, and good point about the face. I didn't even think about it because he's a cartoon, you know? And when he is out of character he is like, a handsome businessman. But yeah, the least I could do is fix up the neck, right?

So yeah, I did mess with him after reading this, and this is what I got. Made the jaw a little bigger, brought the arms in towards the body, and fixed up the pec/delt area. Better?

So yeah, just messing around, playing with anatomy and style, and threw this together. I think I will probably give him some legs and maybe snaz-up his look. Any thoughts?
