General Discussion / Let's Talk MUGEN!
« on: June 15, 2020, 10:31:20 pm »
Heyo.

I've recently begun to take interest in the idea of downloading MUGEN and just going berserk. My dream game is to, like Card Sagas Wars, create my own game with my own characters. However, my own idea is inspired by both a little something called Guardian Heroes which originally came out on the Sega Saturn, but then later was revived on the Xbox 360, and Guilty Gear Judgment, a rather obscure PSP game for what is now a major fighting franchise.

Surely there must be a possibility of creating something like that in either MUGEN or something else.

Forgive me if I sound like total n00b; I'm just now becoming aware of all these advancements in game development.

General Discussion / Need help with Sprytile.
« on: June 15, 2020, 04:41:53 pm »
Total n00b, here.

I recently just downloaded Sprytile and I am going in totally blind, I'll admit. I feel that I need a rundown of how everything works with this Blender add-on. I need to know how to create my own textures for tiles and such, if it is possible to model unique low-poly characters with this add-on, and if it is possible to make sprites within a 3D environment. Everything is all set, I just need some extra guidance.

Pixel Art / I might turn this into my official spriting thread.

Hello.

I'm Nexty, and I suppose I have been trying to make sprites ever since MSPaint was still a thing. I have since moved on to Aseprite, and I came here hoping to get some help from the best, or at least those with the most experience. What I personally do is that I draw my character on an index card, scan it through my portable scanner, and as primarily an Aseprite user I ink and color the character over, scale it down to the appropriate level, and then clean up.

The results have varied. The first character I will introduce in named Axel the Torrent. According to the recommended guidelines, I cannot artdump, so I will furnish more sprites upon request.

My aim is to go for something Treasure-like. From my view, the characters made by Treasure all seem to be stick figures of some sort with meat on them, and this makes them very dynamic and appealing to me.

My greatest influence in spriting is Treasure.
