Challenges & Activities / Re: Chimeras

Theres a bit of bird, crab, turtle, pray mantas and human skeleton in this.

I think I might do a cleaner, different version that has more obvious influences. Its a fun activity.

actually, TakaM's a huge Little Big Adventure fan.

Oh, in that case good. It's just nobody mentioning that surprised me.

I find it funny that neither Xion Nights, or .TakeM knew that they were in fact drawing this character, not just a creatoin of faceless'. despite bickering over the look of the character early on. If this has already been pointed out, than sorry I didn't read all 11 pages.

Brilliant work though. It flows near seemlessly- I almost thought it was an example iso by one person when I first opened this post.

Haven't posted here in a long while, but this challenge was just too hard to resist. I love these palettes so far.

Trying to catch up to everyone else...

All I can really say is BRILLIANTLY TEXTURED. But I'll force myself to be constructive.

The wing closest to us doesnt seem to ever really join the body. It feels a little as if the body and head were drawn from a different perspective to this wing. I'd suggest simply blending the under wing feathers lower, towards the 'shoulder' section.

I didn't say I was searching for screens. I googled Boktai sprites and none of the sprite sheet links worked. Thanks for the link though, I had no idea the sprite looked like this from the screen we were given.

This is what I thought it looked like:

Looks like its back to the drawing board for me... :-[

Thanks Camus. I had a lot of trouble finding any Boktai reference pics in google...

I'll make an edit when I find some more time.

Any comments on the anatomy or shading or anything else than the head?

Just briefly, since you asked, the small patch of dithering in the neck looks somewhat out of place. You may also be able to fix the head size issue reasonably hassle free simply by extending the chin a little further and seperating the eyes.

Heres my effort. I figured there was not much point spending ages on it because we simply wouldnt be given that option were this a real game.

Part 1 (Took me longest to decide on the simplicity of the shading):

Part 2 (Never played or heard of Boktai so it was a bit harder):

I like Popeye and this was a nice challenge, even if I dont come anywhere close to winning.
