The entire thing is very nice and my favorite part is the crows. I dig the un-saturated look. I second helm's comment about the subject matter.
Edgar Allan Poe would be a better fit in my opinion.

it's going to be hard to make it detailed and readable when it's so damn small...It looks ok right now, have you tried skipping on the mouth and just adding eyes? Why is he half-way crouching?

Hair is supposed to make your head look larger, not smaller or flat. Don't catch 'the road to El Dorado' Syndrome!

Yeeesh! What a piece of work this is...Don't do this!
Use WM's method of skull construction above. Figure out the angle your audience is seeing your characters head from and fore-shorten and plan accordingly.

The perspective looks off in that the bridge never seems to become smaller as it gets farther away from the camera/viewer.

You still have the weird mosiac effect on the left side (the one facing the sun).

The individual bricks still need to be wider and have different shades of color.

Wheres a shadow that would come from the roof hanging over the walls?

The sky in the first picture, remember: MS spray can tool = bad. Place the pixels by hand! Don't be lazy!

The colors....not feeling them. Nothing really 'pops'. The saturation and hues make the colors look...not so good.

The colors, shading, volumetrics all look awesome. Also like the shape. Trunk could use some type of highlighting or something, right now it looks rather flat.

What's probably bothering me the most is the black lines defining spaces inside the wolfs rather than just color values/shades of color, but that might just be me.

I'd only put a black outline around the very outside, at most, if at all. --And Instead of a black outline, I'd rather prefer a shade of a color that's near-by.

Some animations look ok, but 2 frames is hardly enough to the mind/eye to look anything but choppy. Also the timing could be different on different frames to make it ease in and out.

The dithering doesn't look so hot either, I'd personally just add a few more values and use AA.

Some of the lines look off, either looking rushed or out of shape with the volumes of the body.

The colors don't seem to ramp in or out of saturation. Just looking, they all look like the same sat.

Also, any lighting going on is hardly noticeable

No one enjoys my edits, so I'll leave this up to you or someone else.

Enlarged wolf sprite from final fantasy 6, notice how much detail has been put in using so few pixels.
Also notice there are just values inside the body rather than pure-black lines:

The perspective looks way off. If you follow the legs from closest to back and then do the same for the head and body, it looks like they're been drawn on separate horizon lines...sorta. I dunno, it sorta looks right and wrong at the same time. Probably what Cure said about the legs would help.
Also reminds me more of an ant than a spider, especially the abdominal part.

Also wanted to point out your avatar looks completely like a color reduction (pixel - cheating) than pixel art, if you care about that, if not, ignore previous statement.

shouldn't the bricks vary in color just a little bit? Surely all the bricks used in the house weren't duplicates. They should probably be wider too and don't forget bricks on the corners of buildings kinda 'weave' together the two joining walls.

Also your lightest wall has a very bad mosaic effect which makes it stand out too much (Colors and contrast).

Also pretty sure the roof tiles would hang over the far edges of the building. Just a bit.
