Title: Graphics Gale Language?
Post by: Gibbo on February 11, 2010, 04:15:24 am
Hello all,

First posty goodness....

I've downloaded Graphics Gale in an attempt to "grow up" and get away from MS Paint.....but my machine OS is Japanese (I live in Japan) so Graphics Gale automatically comes out in Japanese. My Japanese isn't quite good enough to use a graphics tool, so does anyone know how to change the language of GG to English....?

Cheers

Gibbo

First, did you install the english version from the english humanbalance site (http://humanbalance.net/gale/us/index.html)? If so, it should come with both English and Japanese language packs. To switch between the two you go to Preferences:(http://www.lolipopsicle.com/linky/help/pref.gif) And to switch languages you use the first dropdown box on the last preference tab.

You need to restart the program afterwards.

Atnas,

Installed the English version, and it automatically came out in Japanese (I guess it just detected the Japanese OS and set automatically). Thanks for that, I'll give it a go.....

Cheers

Edit: Didn't work! On the last tab in the preferences, system, there aren't any drop boxes....poop. Any other ideas?

I got the exact same problem. The way the latest, non beta, version is coded make impossible to change the language back to english after installation. The only thing to do is to get the latest beta version (below the stable version on the download page). This version handle languages differentely.

Better late than never, I'll post what worked for me in case others get this problem.
Go to the lang folder inside the GraphicsGale folder. In there, you should have two text files, "english" and "japanese". Open them, and swap their ID on the second line (1 for "english" and 0 for "japanese"), save, and now GrahicsGale should be in english.
