Title: I need a tutor, or just reliable tutorials...
Post by: ArcherofLight on February 03, 2010, 01:47:13 am
Alright, so a lot of you know how bad that attempt at top-down spriting is, and I'm asking for someone willing to help me learn. If no-one wants to go through the trouble of that, I'm asking for reliable tutorials.

As has been said many times on the forum, traditional art skills are far more beneficial than any pixel specific tutorial. Working from a tutorial without knowing basic art concepts will likely lead to developing bad habits and partial understanding of the concepts. Look for traditional art books rather than pixel art tutorials if you're a beginner artist.

The quickest way to get a decent understanding of pixel tech would probably be watching videos in the recorded pixel art thread (http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=2144.0), or simply reading the pixel art board and studying any art that's posted. Find information on specific techniques by using the forums search function.

Good luck

You draw pretty well from what i know, so you just need to learn to turn that skill to pixel art. Try making lineart of that masterchief you drew.

I didn't draw that, my friend Robert Diaz did(you can see his signature in the corner of the pic).

Eh. Alright, I'll try. Not procrastinating here, but I do have an English project due in a week, so I'll start when I'm done with that.
