The paint is too weird for me to use, so I went here to ask you guys what pixel art program you recommend.

Everything is fine, just depends how well you can handle colors
If you're good, then you can paint even with different colored waterlemons.

I personally would chose Graphicsgale if you donīt want to spend some money. There is also Promotion which is also a popular program
among pixelartist.

Thanks, i'll try graphics gale now, and eventually try to use photoshop some time.

How do I use transparency on stuff I move around in graphicsgale?
I'm completely stuck.

Under the layer properties there's a transparency checkbox where you can select a background color. Everything of that color when you select and move stuff will be invisible. If you want to save something with transparency for online, for example so that it has no background, you need to make the background transparent via the frame properties. It's because frame settings are exported into any file type, but layers only work under the .gal extension! . o .

If you are talking about the Windows 7 Paint that comes with it, then, I understand you, but if you have the normal paint, then it should be fine.
And the thing with the watermelons means, that no matter what program you use, it just makes it either easier or a littler harder to create stuff, but doesn't manually improve your skills :o!
Regardless, I'm using Photoshop CS4
