So here's a guy who's reading on the porch:

(porch not yet pictured)
I'm trying to emulate the style of adventure games of the early 90s (like Monkey Island 2 for example) which has proven more difficult than I expected. Also, I'm having trouble applying perspective while still keeping the character physically balanced in the chair. Clearly the chair is not done... I originally thought it would be a good idea to figure out the character's pose before filling in the chair, but maybe drawing the chair will help me keep the perspective consistent.
Any help you might be able to provide in any of these areas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Scary, he looks exactly like my math teacher from 10th grade.
The shirt and book look flat compared to the rest of his body, so maybe add an extra light shade for highlights?
The issue with the way he's sitting is that his torso appears to be slouching partially forward and partially to the side, but his legs are pointing straight at you. With the way you drew him the legs would also have to be facing partially to the side. I'm not sure what orientation the chair will be in, but making a sketch of it would definitely help you with his body.
You want to move his book hand more to the left. Try posing and you'll see what I mean :P

Update:

Damn it, apparently the exact shade of gray I used is coincidentally the background color of the thread....
I think the perspective is more consistent than before, but it still needs work. Mainly I need help drawing the chair itself now.

Okay, seriously guys? Over 600 views and only one reply. Thanks, Chis.
Updated again. I'd really appreciate some constructive feedback....

hmm the skintone need to be changed, it looks too red, and the dark skin tones are brown o.o, It should be the opposite, from brown/yellow to reds:

added the middle color of the tshirt as the middle color on the shorts.

I kind of like the redish skin. ITs like he was reading on the porch trying to get a tan but he doesnt tan well so hes a little sun burned. You could probibly darken the shadows on the skin a bit though.

The reddish skin was actually an allusion to Monkey Island 2 and other LucasArts adventure games of that era. I would like to keep the skin tone basically the same, but increasing the contrast is a good idea.... Thanks for the feedback guys.
Any suggestions for constructing the chair? :/
