Title: Knight Helmet
Post by: newsomjk on January 12, 2010, 02:19:12 am
Trying to get down one style before I start the work on his body. I'm aiming for a cartoonish, goofy kind of knight. Not a super realistic thing. That's why i'm having a hard time deciding whether to use any dithering at all or just stick to smooth shading.

version 2, changes from my own opinions:

EDIT 1:

C&C please?

Thanks in advance!

well lesse, a few things that stick out to me:
-top right side of the helmet, liked V1 better, but the edit to the other side was good as it seemed there was too much noise.
-there is little-no anti-aliasing
-how many colors in the eyes?
-the outlines are painfully present, find a way to either remove them or make them less noticeable.
-helmet and face seem facing slightly different directions.\
-there's a bit of banding, but the rest should probably bee cleaned up first.
otherwise looks good.

color count isn't a worry of mine for this.

and shouldn't the outlines be noticeable if i'm going for a cartoonish style?

I changed all the outlines to darker colors of the objects to try and make them less noticeable yet still kinda cartoonish. And i turned the helmet angle a bit, I think it lines up better now. also tried to fix the outline of the helmet for the AA problems. aaand clearly i added a body (no arms yet)
