Title: Touhou Project Title Screen
Post by: Kindred on August 10, 2009, 05:04:33 am
This is as far as I can take this piece on my own. I thought I'd bring it here since you guys know what you're doing, and some of you have been pixeling from before I even touched a pencil. :)

Note: I did not pixel the writing--it's the font MS Mincho. However, I did anti-alias it by hand.

I'd like to change her left arm, instead of having it lying there looking dull, but I can't think of anything at the moment. Also, I'm sort of confused how to shade her with such a low colour count (4 colours), although the cartoonish style is more suitable to the game.

The character, Utsuho Reiuji, is from the game Touhou Project (http://touhou.wikia.com/wiki/Touhou_Wiki).

Nice stuff.

This one looked acceptable to me as far as the arm goes. Just fix the arms so they are the same thickness.

If you were intent on using this one:

Then having the arm over her head and reaching toward the right might work.

I wouldn't worry about shading. How you have it now is about as good as it gets with 4 colors, unless you want to do some crazy dithering, which still wouldn't look too great at that resolution.

Is that a hole? If so, are the breasts showing? Cause if it is, the breast look terrible. Amazing on everything else, though.

I like the newest one a lot, but I feel like it loses something with the other arm missing. the wing pose is great, but maybe something like what Evil was suggesting with the raised arm. Also, with that same version, have you tried shifting the title itself around? I feel that the screen would flow more nicely if it was more in the lower left area. I think the form of the wing draws my eye to that area, and then it is just blank. Also, it is covering up your other arm, so it could benefit you there as well.

I agree with EvilEye on this version~ Having her arm reach towards the light source would look good. Although it might look better with her head facing the light as well, maybe to look as if reaching for something? Also I think the right wing(in respect from my viewing perspective) could use a bit more shading work on the feathers. Even if those are large individual feathers, maybe a little bit of indentation for the 'hairs'(at loss for a proper term) here and there. Right now they look a bit at loss in detail compared to the rest of the piece.

With this one, I would say the left arm would 'pop' a bit more if you had her fingers in a position like she just snapped her fingers. Being a Touhou game(which I'm not too familiar with) theme, a little magic spark or something as a result of the snap might look nice~

I might try getting her left arm back in there somewhere.

The thing embedded in her chest is an eye.

Pretty cute. Yet, the face seems odd.^I think you should tift the head flontally, ot at least add a line separating the head from the neck.... The neck looks too fat. Also, the hair is frontal. While the head is tilting to the left.... And her left (our right) hand is hidden.... It feels weird. But i really like this ^-^

I am liking this newest one a lot. And personally, i say don't worry about the eye on her chest. I knew what it was right away.
