Wasn't too sure if I liked the added contrast on the second one or not. Some crit would be nice. Especially as I'm still in the "beginner learning/; stage.

 Too much dark outlines or black outlines. Use selout for the skin to smooth the outline out. Well, heh. It's a start for most people to not use too much black outlines. Contrast is also important. Make them well contrasted. Vary the hues of the shades are also important. Using the same color over and over again kills the sprite's quality. Make sure the arms, legs, body are drawn correctly (Anatomy).
