Title: Average charge...
Post by: Consty on July 18, 2009, 05:37:40 am
Got a quick question I'd like to ask. I've done some searching on the forums for what the average charge is for pixel art, and from what I can tell it's anywhere from 10-20 an hour. My question is how much does one usually charge on a per frame basis instead of per hour? How much is generally assumed to be done in an hour, given sprite sizes in the 32x32 range. Nothing bigger than 64x64. I assume the charge is increased with the larger sizes? I know this is very subjective, so I guess I'm asking for what experience others have had, and what is a fair price.

With that being said, is there a difference between sprites and tiles? Is the charge for tiles generally greater than that of sprites because of having a direct reference to a previous sprite for animation purposes, opposed to tiles which are generally all unique, and in some cases, a few animated.

Thanks for any inputs!

One frame per hour is a pretty good estimate in general, I think. More if its large and complex, of course.
