Some of you might remember this. I'm currently re-vamping it, and maybe I'll get it finished this time.

Ah ha! I thought I had seen your work before. You're Gunstar Red! I love your art. I really hope you finish Kitty Hawk. If you don't finish it, this display is a rather cruel tease. Wouldn't you agree? Anyway, I hope everything goes well. Good luck.

Weee! Looks nice. Love the grins on the bad kitties. My mate Mark pointed out that it seems odd to share colours between the player and the enemies, though, as it makes it a little unambiguous who is who. Also, it might be nice to have some shadow tiles of the grass as the bit at the top-right looks flat rather than raised up (as I assume it's meant to be?).

I've always wondered where this went to; I missed it. Those trees look prety funky, though. It's hard to tell what form you intented to interprit.

I like your style, vive colors, simply forms, but in overall is all very nice :)
I have only a critique.
In the last image, when is the night the shadow of the spaceships "black" is correct, but when is in a fog i thin should be "grey".

yeah it kinda looks like a squashed "shi" because it's missing the right hand bit: い
in fact I'd as far say that the whole line is outta whack with the rest of the screen. in these old 80's coin ops they would sometimes leave the kanji (raiden for example) but never the instructions. Japanese games from that time rarely have instructions, and oshiateru is not something you'd often see.
インサートコイン works. There's a huge ゲームセンター near me that only has 80's games (I live in downtown tokyo) , I'll have a look next time.

I'm in LOVE with the cityscape, but its clashing too much, imo. It would be pretty difficult to be in that area.

yeah, I'll need to experiment a little with the colours once it's up and running esp if things get too confusing on the eye.

just lower the saturation of the colors in the neon signs and it should look fine

Not just the neon signs. I wouldn't mind if exactly everything in the city background was a little darker. It's supposed to be night, after all, and it doesn't look that much darker than in the daytime forest shot.

Nice city scape tiny, however the lights on the buildings seem rather bright, they could confuse the player with any projectiles fired unless all projectiles are all 2-3px thick ^^U.

Cityscape suggestions:
a) Make the city (much) darker and make sure that the lights aren't a color that's similar to player/enemy projectiles.
b) Make the city seem slightly out of focus and put more emphasis on the cloud cover by making the clouds more detailed and (duh) in focus.
Other than that, everything looks awesome. Keep it up.
