Title: A good sallary
Post by: Sabata on May 01, 2009, 06:56:09 pm
So for some time now I have been looking into finding so said "good salary" for artist... From my research its said that a professional pixel artists salary ranges in about 2000 - 2300$ a month, full time. This was said to me from a friend of mine in gaming industry... http://www.windship.pe.kr/dot_gallery/ (http://www.windship.pe.kr/dot_gallery/) his gallery, quite good... but hes from Korea so maybe prices change.

And I haven't found a number for other type of art yet... what do you think or know for that matter about payment for Illustrators, Concept artists and Environment designers??? Also do concept artist work with Illustrations as well??

Also what do you think of working part time from home?? Do you think that prices get lower if you work under this conditions and does it actually benefit the buyer in any way if he works with designers under this conditions?

I am looking to gather information on this matter, so any help is appreciated.

Oh and feel free to argue about pixel artist part, I am looking to hear ideas.

Hi there, I myself can't help much here, but this sort of question's come up before so you'll definitely find some relevant topics if you try the search bar up top.

I saw an article in a gaming mag recently. I don't remember the exact numbers, but a 'senior' position might pay some 60-80k. 25-30k is more common for new people. Then there are inbetweens. If you're really well respected/wanted, you might get over 100k.
