Hi y'all!
I tried creating a tree, it never got out very well but this time I'm really happy with the result :D
Don't watch the grass, that's just something to fill the bottom of the tree.
I don't know what leafs go well on this tree, and how to draw them. I'm not good at the green part of the tree :P
This is my bald tree:

I recommend you look at what kind of leaves real trees that look like your tree have.
Think of some keywords describing your particular type of tree, and search using those terms, eg. on Flickr.
Your tree reminds me of a Morton Bay Fig:

I think it has layered leafs, http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=8291.0 has it on the first post, recht-above. Does that sound right?

I'd advise against my failed attempts being a reference! Read the advice and see the examples posted by ndchristie and st0ven. Maybe just shade in as they did to give yourself an idea of how you might like the foliage to look in general.
Given your style accentuating the trunk and not the branches, very large leaves spring to mind as something that might suit.
