Woo! Very nice indeed! The explosion and indeed the whole feel of it is very R-Typey, which is always a good thing. Are shoot 'em ups your thing, then?

That is some serious quality. I'm very impressed. This rivals the work of the 16 bit era greats. More than R-Type, like Dr Derek Doctors mentioned, it brings to mind the quality of Irem when they were at their best. You may or may not be familiar with their games.
There's nothing to critisize as far as color and design choices -- those are top notch. I would say, though, that the background could benefit from more terrain instead of just being flat. It would look more interesting and show off what you can do with corners. It would also be nice to see a little more variety in enemies. The one you included is great, so I want to see more.

This is indeed awesome, reminds me of last resort.
Are you german?

Thanks for comments guys
I love that kind of games,
I think Irem ( or there members) created a few of the best looking 2D games of all time.
@garsh
Your right with the background
it looks a little flat
But what do you mean with the corners?
@ptoing
yeah last resort looks amazing
first level with that huge skyline in the background looks awasome.
yes i am german

looks great and the animations are very nice too
just a little too much brown for my taste tho

mmm, awesome indeed! the only small crit i can come up with is, that the two unanimated ships (on the far left) looks a bit flat compared to the animated one (contrast ?!).
keep it comming

Woah, holy crap.
Holy crap.
Holy crap!
I hate you now, you know. I got whipped by Gradius a few months back, so now I'm all hooked by side-scroller shooters. I'm even making my own. If you'd make one, though.. you'd so kick my ass in an instant. I'm guessing it's no coincidence that the ship, to me, looks like a mix between the R-Type ships and the HellFire one?
Ooh... combo system... Ikaruga..?
