I'm did some sprites, and registered on Pixelation Forum to show them for you ^^

That Mario looks great, but the... 3rd, I believe, frame looks weird, since his pants... disappear.

On the rest, they look good, I love that fighter.

i agree, but in more technical terms, the legs just grow shorter, instead of actually pivoting or foot replacement or so on. think of it like try redo that pose, and try not bending your knees. thats what it looks like

I'm not sure what you mean by 'How do you create a portfolio?', they come in different presentations.

It's merely just a matter of showcasing (usually your best or favorite) pieces of work, with pixel art, I'd suggest keeping everything neat and tidy in a folder. A website is definitely a great place to showcase your work, however I have no know-how of creating websites, so I can't help you there.
