Title: Brush shape and size question
Post by: happymonster on November 15, 2008, 07:46:25 pm
For normal low colour pixel art, is a variety of sizes of square and round brushes fine? I don't think custom shaped brushes are really used for this kind of work are they?

Would different sizes square brushes be ok for a low colour paint program? Do I really need the circular ones? :)

(Just getting feedback for my paint program)

In Promotion for example you can use any shape as a brush and it is really helpful. I mean even Paint has brushes with / shapes and such, and those can be helpful as well.

Oh, I wasn't clear enough. I didn't mean custom cut out brushes, just the default ones..
But it sounds like you've answered my question!

What do you think about having a selection of different brush shapes at a fixed size (I.e. like Dpaint), and then any size square (and possibly round) brushes?

I happen to be addicted to rombus shaped brushes. I find that I can do straight lines and more biological shapes with them without having to switch brushes.

Graphics Gale. I simply use their "pen" function and draw my own rhombus. is rhombus a mistranslation on my part? I mean this

Ah right. I think that's the correct term technically. I always think of that as a diamond shape..
Actually that's not more difficult to draw than a box anyway..

I used to make brushes for photoshop with the different patters of dithering and then just configure the brush setting, like the spacing tou just freely paint a dither patter
