Post by: skamocore on October 25, 2008, 04:05:15 pm
This is for the weekly challenge over at Pixeljoint...

...It's supposed to be saying "Drink Me", but I don't think it's looking quite right at the moment. Any help would be appreciatied, thanks :D

hi. you have some contrast issues going on , there aren't enough darker tones on the bottle. Second, you need to distinguish more between the label/cap and the bottle, which has to do with the contrast issue some. I also changed up the outlines  a bit.

it's cute though, it just needs some fixing up colorwise.

If when you say "not looking quite right," you mean that you can't really tell what he's saying, then yeah.  I would say find some way to make the eyes/mouth bigger, so that you can bend and shape the mouth to make it more readable.  If you want to make it more lively, then maybe bend/squash the bottle as he talks, accompanied by a cute little jump?

Will be dang hard to replicate at such a small scale, but I have faith in you!

Thanks guys.

@alk, very helpful edit, I tried to implement a few of your suggestions :D
@Yoyo: if I have time I might try adding extra animation.
@Willows: I did refer to one of those charts when I started making him talk, it was vaguely helpful, but then I just started playing around with the mouth positions myself. As you said: it's hard replicating those mouths at such a small scale.
